I think I saw somewhere (maybe FB?) that you're training for an 8k.  Would that be for the Shamock Shuffle in Chicago, perhaps?! :)

Re: ::Kristine::

  • That was my plan, but then I recently saw when they scheduled it for. It's the day after one of my best friend's weddings here in metro Detroit. So, no Shamrock Shuffle for me.  Sad  I'm not sure I'll find an 8k near me this spring, so if not, I'm hoping to keep my training up and run a 10k during the summer. Have you run the Shamrock Shuffle before?
  • Oh boo!  Not boo that your BFF is getting married though :)  I just saw the date recently too and they pushed it about a month later than usual to April, not really Shamock-y anymore but oh well.  I think they did this b/c the last 2 years it has either snowed or rained and has been very cold.

    Yes, I ran it last year with on of my friends in the drizzly, cold.  It actually wasn't too bad once you got going.  It was a lot of fun!  We're going to do it again this year.  I am also thinking about doing the Soldier Field 10 Mile run that's on May 28.  The finish line is the 50 yard line.

  • Good luck! The 10 Mile run finishing at Soldier Field sounds fun!

    Do you run outside during the winter? I've only been running on the treadmill but miss running outside. I was thinking about going to get some cold running gear but am not sure how much I'd actually run outside in the cold and if I'd like it.

  • No, I do not run outside in the winter.  Too sloshy and wet for my liking :)  The cold doesn't bother me much.  Actually I don't run outside very much unless I am training for a race.  I have an elliptical at home and do about 8 miles on there 4 times a week.  I have shin splints from many years of gymnastics so I try to avoid too much pounding on the pavement.  If I have a race coming up I'll usually run outside once a week about 4 to 5 weeks before the run.

    However, once it's not so sloshy and nasty out I would like to run outside at least once a week regardless.  I just got this hat for Christmas, it has a little hole from your ponytail :)http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpage-SDPSC.html
