My bosses boss was out sick yesterday, so she's supposed to talk to her today about my schedule. Regardless, I had an OB checkup this morning and mentioned it to my Dr. and he basically freaked out and said no way! He wrote me a Rx note for how much I can work in case they're difficult and I need to bust it out.
UPDATE- So, I did give them the note soon after I wrote this and they turned around and took one of the 3 in a row classes away and gave me a class that I've never taught before. Teaching a class you've never taught before is soooooooooooooooo much work! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like I'm getting treated like garbage! I mean, I did ask them WAY in advance to please not give me a morning and night in the same day, so it's not like I didn't try to avoid this situation long ago. Now, I'll probably be working overtime (and not getting paid for it) to get ready for this class each week on top of trying to finish getting ready for my baby. I'm so upset and stressed out right now. I wish I could quit now!
I do have the e-mail where my boss asked for our schedule preferences and I wrote back "please no morning and night in the same day" Do you think I should ask for another alternative? Maybe ask if I can tutor for 10 hours instead of the 5 hour class?
Re: Work situation *UPDATED AGAIN*
Good for you- glad you have a backup!!
I would feel like throwing a temper tantrum if I was told I had to work at 15 hr day that pregnant...I remember how I felt when my boss emailed me to tell me I had a 13 hour day my first day back from maternity leave. I'm glad I got it in an email- I cried!
I am so glad your doctor freaked out and wrote you a note.
Good luck!!

It depends really on how far you want to go to burn bridges. Even if you're not planning on going back after the baby is born, there may come a time when you do want to work again, and you will need to use them for a reference.
More practically, though ... if you continue to try to work the schedule to your liking it may just make it worse for you while you're still there. If you request another change and cite the reason for that request as "it's too much work to prepare for a class I've never taught before" I would imagine that the response is going to be very unflattering and not at all what you want.
This is the one time I would strongly suggest you just suck it up and do the best you can to go along with what they're asking you to do at work.
Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck.
You're probably right. I just feel like the one time I specifically ask in advance for a reasonable schedule to avoid this situation and unnecessary stress, I get dumped on - so unfair. They know I'm not coming back - maybe that has something to do with it. I should probably just suck it up though.... it's a max of 8 more weeks. I just hate going into a class and winging it and looking like an idiot, so I always put way more prep time into it than I should. le sigh.
I think that's exactly it. I think if you were coming back, they'd be more willing to make your schedule so that it works best for you. They seem to be trying to make things work best for the people who are still there after you're gone, which is what's in their best interest.
This is what I was thinking, also.
