We were supposed to have a new dog today :(
Ken and I went to the Humane Society the day after Christmas to look for a dog and fell in love with a 9 year old lab. He came from a hoarding situation and was not in such good shape, but we were willing to take him in. We had to bring our dog back to meet him and when we did the vet told us that the lab had a cold and probably shouldn't meet Miley that day and to wait until Wednesday (today).
I got a phone call about a half hour ago (as we were preparing to take Miley in to meet him) that he now has kennel cough. We just can't risk Miley getting it (even though she is vaccinated we are paranoid) and then having two sick dogs.
Since the dog we wanted to adopt came from a sketchy situation we wanted to use our Christmas break to work with him and now we feel we can't do that. I made Ken call them back after we talked about it and say we couldn't adopt him. I made him do it because I went in the other room and cried. Sad day!
