Bridal Shower Games

I am throwing a bridal shower for my sister at the end of January.  She typically is anti-games, especially the traditional stuff like the toilet paper dress etc.

I am co-hosting with 2 other girls and we all agree that we need to do something at the shower.  It doesnt have to be a "game" but we want to do an activity of some sort.  Any brilliant ideas???

 TIA!!!

Re: Bridal Shower Games

  • Ok, bear with me here for this lengthy explaination...but it's my most favorite baby or bridal shower game EVER. I've played it at the last 4 showers I've either hosted/gone to and it's always a crowd pleaser.

It's basically "Concentration" (or Memory)...you come up with a list of baby-related words and phrases (grandparents, dirty diaper, naptime, etc.) and a corresponding candy to go with each one (grandparents=kisses, dirty diaper=tootsie roll, naptime=take 5). Write each baby phrase on 2- 3x5 cards and attach to board...cover with another 3x5, which has been labeled with a number. Guests will go around the room trying to match cards (ie: they pick 2 numbers, if those numbers have matching word/phrase, they win!). Their prize?? The corresponding candy!

It's super simple, people can feel free to chat while going around the room waiting for each person's turn, and it's always a great reaction to see which candy matches which word/phrase. I have a whole list of words if you need some :)

That's cute!  I like the idea that people don't have to be forced to play, but can chat and have fun while it goes around and they wait their turn.  I'll shoot the idea over to my cohosts.  Thanks Smile

  • This is the game that was played at my shower while the food was being set up-It was quick paced and everyone enjoyed it because you didn't need to think too much or get out of your chair. My hostess got pie tins from Marie Calendars to roll in, and had 2 going in opposite directions-It was crazy! I got this from http://www.tybinc.com/resources/shower_games.php

You will need some floor space to play this one. Get everyone in a circle and place some wrapped gifts in the center, try to have nearly the same number of presents as guests. Wrap them in all different size boxes, and colors and pretty them up with a bow or unique wrapping paper. The gifts should range from a joke gift (like something found at a 99 cents store) to a few nicer gifts (bath beads, little picture frame, etc.)
Set a timer for about 10 minutes or so (longer if you have more then 15 guests). Start with the bride-to-be. Have her roll a set of dice. If she gets doubles, she picks out a prize in the center of the circle. Then start passing the dice around the circle. Anyone that gets doubles may take a prize from the circle. Once all the prizes from the center are gone the guests can start taking gifts from the other guests. When they roll doubles they trade with another guest.

Keep passing the dice around until the timer goes off. Whoever has a gift at the end of the game gets to unwrap it and keep it! It is funny to see what gift the guests start fighting over because of the shape/size of the box or even the wrapping paper. Nine times out of ten the guests end up fighting over that joke gift!

  • There's a game that was played at both mine and my cousin's showers that were really big hits: a memory game with candy prizes corresponding to the answer.

So you get a three-panel presentation board and fold pieces of construction paper and put words like Bride, Bouquet, Ring, Groom, etc on the part of the paper that is up against the board. Each paper is numbered on the outside so the guests can choose two numbers to see if the words inside match. Each guest gets a turn to pick two numbers, and if they get it right, they get a prize.

    Bride: Red Hots

    Bridesmaid: Lifesavers

    Groom: Big Hunk

    First dance: Mamba or Symphony

    Ring: 100 Grand

Flower Girl: Baby Ruth or Sweet Tarts

and so on. The guests get a big kick out of the candy prizes because it's kind of a joke too.
