I got in my car just in time to hear a very special episode tm. It was Dobson and crew doing a CO only broadcast for ballot measures and candidates here.
I fully expect them to shock me, so therefore I rarely react. But when they said about the anti-affirmative action proposition "it's not anti-affirmative action. It has nothing to do with affirmative action. It just makes sure that race and gender are not given preference in hiring or educational situations," my jaw dropped. If that's not anti-affirmative action, then what is? Why aren't they just honest about it? They have a right to not want affirmative action, so fess up. Talk about why you're against affirmative action. Inform people why you have your positions, and why they matter (they didn't give anything beyond a cursory explanation for any of their positions).
Can someone tell me why a Christian group would have an opinion on something like repealing oil subsidies? I get the "personhood" amendment and gambling opinions, but how does their perspective give them an answer on subsidies?
Oh, also amusing, there's a bill to lower the age for serving in state legislature. The rep that was on the program was against it, but FotF was for it. Why? All b/c of one biblical quote that said a smart young man can be wiser than an old king. I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it. That was their only reasoning.
Re: fascists on your family
My fascist comment is just about them in general. I really really dislike that group and the influence and power they have. It has nothing to do with affirmative action.
Politicians comment on the world series? That makes me happier that I don't listen to them.
For the last couple weeks FotF and other programs like theirs have been talking about their views of the economy and what should be done. Again, way overstepping the boundaries of their credulity. They didn't invite experts; they didn't counsel on a Christian perspective on dealing with the crisis personally; they espoused their economic plans based on their experience in family counseling. I yelled at my radio quite a bit about that!
Sibil- I didn't know you were in Denver! Me too! Where do you hear this crazy Dobson show?
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
I just moved back a couple weeks ago.
94.7 KRKS. AKA christian crack. My addiction started when my job made me drive too far too early in the morning. So, scanning stations, I thought it was NPR at first. It wasn't. But, by then, I'd been sucked in to yelling at the radio, and it kept me awake on my commute. It's good to stay awake. It's also good to know what these people are saying when they have such a huge audience.
