So, after a failed esophagram 4 weeks ago, and a canceled appointment on Monday due to the storm, I'm finally going to see the ENT at 2:20 to, hopefully, get the OK to remove my thyroid and, hopefully, start getting better.
Vibes for good news and progress are much appreciated!!!!!
ETA: So, it's not what I was expecting, but I guess it was a good visit. Apparently it's not my thyroid causing the swallowing issues, but acid erosion in my esophagus causing inflammation. Joy. Something else wrong with me lol.
However, my ENT, who I love, explained to me that while it might seem like a good thing to remove my thyroid, it's not, and would open a whole new can of worms. It seems like my endocrinologist only gives me 1/2 the story each time, and I keep having to hear the rest of the story from my other doctors like my OBGYN and my ENT, wtf.
So I'm on a heavy duty antacid for 2 weeks to see if it helps with the swallowing issues. And after hearing the history with my meds with the current endocrinologist, my ENT, and my mom, suggested trying to find a more aggressive endocrinologist to try and get my meds right ASAP. Thanks for thinkin of me ladies

I hear that! It's been a year just getting to this point, it absolutely sucks. I'm sorry you're going through it, hopefully your solution will come quickly and you can get to a healthy place.
Ooh, you're there right now. Feel all the vibes?
My thyroid is a PITA, too. My mother and grandmother also had problems. They increased my meds and I was starting to feel human again, then I (stupidly) ran out and have been off it for a few days over the holiday and need to bring the new prescription in.
Let us know how it goes!
Good luck!!
Sounds like you have gastric reflux (GERD), which diet change and/or medication will hopefull fix!!
I was actually going to say that removing someones thyroid for swallowing problems seems very weird...Not having a thyroid is a whole new can of worms in the very least!!!!
***Get a new endocrinologist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have hypothyroidism, and was having some issues swallowing a while ago, (I kept choking on, well, pretty much anything). It turned out to be GERD. They put me on Prilosec, and two weeks later, all was well.
I hope the meds work for you. Good luck!
