anyone own wellie warmers?

Are they fleece or are they knit?  I'm thinking of making them for my sister (to give her on Saturday, yes I am insane), but most of the ones I've seen are fleece and not knit.  Does knit make sense, or should I head to the fabric store?  Also, do yours have feet or stirrups?  Preference?

Re: anyone own wellie warmers?

  • All the ones I've seen are fleece.  It seems like you could do knit if you make them loose enough, otherwise it'd be like wearing two socks.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • What's a wellie warmer?
  • They're inserts that go into your rainboots to keep you warm.

I'm going to table the idea for next year.   I was hit with a stroke of inspiration last night and made ornaments instead.  I've had a small batch of antique printing press letters that I bought at an "estate" Christmas bazaar a few years ago that I've been dying to do something with.  Thankfully both of my sisters have first initials that are reversible (since printing press letters are backwards), and thankfully there were very very small holes in sides of the letters, so I strung them with some thin wire and a couple of glass beads.  I think they're kind of cool, if I do say so myself.

(Just so you don't think I'm a total cheapskate: my sisters and BILs and MH and I do a $5 Christmas.  And I supplemented the ornaments with a few used hardback novels from Goodwill.  For the boys I'm making candied bacon and buying scratchers.)

Oh OK. I've never actually owned rainboots so I guess that's why I've never heard of them.

I love your gift idea! Sounds really cute! I love that you guys do a $5 Christmas! After this Christmas, I was thinking of proposing an Elfster exchange with my and DH's siblings and their spouses. I like the $5 idea though!

This is only the second year we've done it, and it does cause a bit of pressure to be creative, but ultimately it's pretty fun.
