Question for the bakers...
How far in advance can I make cupcakes? Brody's party is on Saturday, but I'd like to get the cupcake making out of the way. I won't be decorating them until Friday afternoon but can I bake them as soon as tonight? I do have an air-tight cupcake container I could store them in.
If I can't store them, can I freeze them or is it too soon? Once they're frozen, how long does it typically take them to thaw before I could decorate? What's the best way to freze them? Help! I'm so not a baker
Re: Question for the bakers...
I think it's a little too late to freeze them, as you would need to defrost them tomorrow. I would suggest baking them tomorrow and decorating Friday.
If you did want to freeze cupcakes at a later time, I usually wrap them in saran wrap (once they are completely cool) then aluminum foil, and stick them in the freezer. Good luck!
2012 Reading Challenge
Frosting them seals in some of the moisture so I would do that at the same time... you can freeze them but I haven't tried that and then decorated before. I don't think it's too far in advance if you do them tonight though.
If you are making them from scratch, you could measure out all the dry ingredients tonight and bake them tomorrow too... that way you could save some time but I do think you'd be fine making them tonight.
