Ewwww!

A couple of days before Christmas we noticed a weird smell in our laundry room. It smelled sort of like rotten eggs. We looked all over and couldn't find the source of the smell. Thought maybe water was sitting in the washer, but that wasn't it. We went to stay with my parents for Christmas, and when we came back, the smell was gone. Figured it was a fluke.

However, today I was doing laundry and noticed the smell again. I get down on my hands and knees to sniff around, and sure enough the smell seems to be coming from the drain on the floor. DH gets a screwdriver to open up the drain, and low and behold the freaking sewer appears to be backing up into the drain!! It hasn't overflowed, but it's awfully close. I was mortified!! DH called the landlord ASAP, and they're sending someone out in the morning.

Sorry that's pretty nasty, but I had to share. I'm so disgusted by the whole thing!! Cross your fingers for me that it's an easy fix and that it doesn't overflow. Ewww!

P.S. Our house is brand new...like a month old. I can't believe something like this is already happening. This is why we're glad we still rent at this point.
