Poll: Silly things you still believe in
I mean silly as in irrational. An example is I believe that if I talk about a dream I had before I eat something then it's going to come true. This is probably because my mom used to tell us these old wives tales to us since we were little kids. Just like if your ears are burning someone is talking about you or if your right hand itches that money is coming your way (which mine has been itching something bad so I hope this one is true
)
I also have to have our bathroom door closed at night because it just creeps me out.
Re: Poll: Silly things you still believe in
I'm an anxious person by nature. When I have a terrible thought or worry I still believe (at least some part of me does) that if I tell my husband (and ONLY him) it won't happen.
I also believe dreams are omens, though I've had millions of dreams that never meant anything. I dreamt the other night this baby is a girl and now I can't stop thinking of girl names. I dreamt DS was a girl too.
I don't like even numbers. I don't know why, I just don't.
I have a lot of little superstition-ish weird things I do. Some might call them OCD
Oh. One other thing: when I was little I had night terrors. I convinced myself that I wouldn't have them if I told both of my parents "sweet dreams" every night before bed. I don't still call them and do that (now that would be silly) but if we talk any night after about 8 p.m., they still tell me sweet dreams and I make sure they do.
See - I don't like odd numbers. It's all evens for me.
I'm superstitious when it comes to sports - I don't wash my sports jerseys until the season's over for my teams [the Thunder and the Mavs]. With OSU football, I wear the same outfit to every game during the entire season [including the bowl game] - even down to the earrings and head band. I almost always say a prayer before the game that no players get hurt, too.
I can't sleep with my bedroom door closed because when I was little, I thought doing so would allow monsters to come out from under my bed and eat me without allowing me the chance to get out. I don't believe in the monsters anymore, but I still don't like sleeping with the door closed.
