cleaning a microfiber couch?

Hello everybody!  I am fairly new to posting on this site and just discovered this category on the boards!  At work I am a total neat freak, because I spend most of my time there, but I don't have as much time to clean at home, but I am happily spending the next three days cleaning my house!

Anyway, we have a microfiber couch that has absorbed any and all smells, dirt, cat fur, etc. from our house.  I vacuum it regularly and have tried Fabreze and carpet powder cleaners on it, but it never seems fully clean.  I am not sure how to clean it with the type of fabric it has.  Can I use a steam cleaner or something?

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Re: cleaning a microfiber couch?

  • If any of your couch covers are removable you can throw them in the washer with warm water and on the gentle cycle.  I just did this yesterday and did low heat dry for like 20 minutes and they look brand new. First time I've tried it but I googled how to do it online. Hth!
  • I have the same problem. My cat threw up on the seat too, which I cleaned with soapy water, but it still smells like the water didn't dry right.

Unfortunately nothing comes off our couch and  it is all attached so I cannot put it in the washer.

  • I have a microfiber couch and I have used my carpet steam cleaning machine on it a few times. In fact I am planning on tackling it tomorrow! I didn't use much of the shampoo, but it did fine with the upholstery tool.
