Moms:: Did your baby spit up??

I know this isn't a baby board, but I don't post on the bump so sorry all you non-moms!!

Kenleigh spits up constantly!! We've already changed her formula once to the enfamil a.r. and she is STILL doing it. She eats 4 oz. every 3 hours but I feel like she is hungry enough for 5oz ... except when I give her 5 she will spit-up for a good hour afterwards. I'm just frustrated and wondering if any other mom's on here have gone through this? She is still pretty small for her age. She still fits into NB onesies and the 0-3 clothes are way too big on her.

Re: Moms:: Did your baby spit up??

  • What did you ped say? I'd start there. Could be a number of issues. With Addison she had some medicine. I don't really like to give my children medication unless really necessary so I tried it for a few weeks only. It didn't really help. She finally just outgrew it, but it was irritating to say the least. It very well may be the formula too.
  • He didn't think it was a problem at her one month appointment. At her 2 month appt she hadn't gained enough weight so we switched the formula. It's almost been a month since then and she still spits up at least 1oz of every bottle. I am hoping not to medicate her for it, wondering if maybe she needs soy formula or something.

She goes through SO much laundry!!! lol.

  • All four of mine were on Soy. I didn't think of that.
  • TJ was like this. He had acid reflux and was on zantac for the longest time. His pedi also had me add a 1/2 teaspoon of rice cereal to every ounce of his bottle, so his 4 oz bottle got 2 teaspoons of rice cereal. That helped but he still spit up more than I thought he should. I stopped giving him the zantac because I felt that it wasn't working and the rice cereal was doing better. Eventually he just outgrew it.

  • My daughter spit up all the time. The Dr. didn't have a problem with it cause she was still gaining weight and didn't have any other symptoms or problems. I had a burp cloth on me at all times and had to warn people every time they held her that she was a spitter upper. She eventually outgrew it without medication or anything.
