So after the wedding, I moved in with DH in his downtown studio apartment. I previously had a roommate so it was not even an issue who moves in with who. Also, we know this was going to be temporary. DH will be starting a fellowship in July and we already have a 2BR apartment waiting for us at the end of June (in another city). Post wedding and all of my stuff moved in, the studio was a disaster.
The whole time before the wedding, I kept telling myself I will tolerate it since we will be there only 6 mos more and move into a bigger place, so there is no point moving again.I have been trying to organize, bought one bookshelf to counter the impending doom and tried my best. But now our closet and the extra storage closet is FULL! I still have a few more things lying around and with all the new kitchen stuff from the wedding, we have very little counter space. I have decided to just not open the stand mixer but alas no room for that either but anywhere on the floor ![]()
Things are a lot better than when I first moved in since DH went through a few things and threw/donated things he did not need anymore. But I am still a little stressed out and most of the time I am home, I always keep thinking about what I can do to make it look nicer, how to organize better. Any advice? What type of furniture/storage container can I get where I can just put random stuff and would not look weird if put outside and not inside a closet?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over!
Treat yourself to a couple of the Space Bags. Put any extra bedding and pillows into a large one of these and vacuum out the air. It cuts down on density without sacrificing the pretty bedding you like.
Next get a piece of plywood to create a table top. Use the large appliances (Stand mixer, blender as a base. Stack a couple of these boxes carefully so boxes do not get crushed. Place plywood topper on top of box. New Table. Bonus points if you can place a piece of fabric over it to hide the boxes.
This also works for a console table. Of course the piece of plywood is shaped differently.
Take all of yours and his off season clothing and place into storage boxes or copy paper boxes. My office just tosses the copy paper boxes, so the secretary was happy to give them to me to take home. LABEL THE BOXES VERY WELL. I cannot stress that enough. Move boxes offsite (Mom and Dad were helpful for this one).
Clutter in a small space will always happen. Give yourself a break.
