2 fathers, 1 grandpa, all want dad duties!

My grandfather raised me after my real dad left the picture and until my step-father came into play. Later on, all men have become a huge part of my life! Now, with my wedding 5 months away, they all want to walk me down the aisle and have a father daughter dance. What do i do?? Deep in my heart, I want my grandpa to have the honor of giving me away and dancing with me. However, my step dad has been in my life since I was 3, such a tough decision! How can I avoid hurting anyone's feelings?

  • You walk yourself down the aisle.
Seriously, people. If your faith in humanity is destroyed because your parents told you there was a Santa Claus and as it turns out there is no Santa Claus, you are an ignorant, hypersensitive cry baby with absolutely zero perspective. - UnderwaterRhymes
  • How about having your grandpa walk you down the aisle and dance with your step-father, or vice versa?
  • What about having each one walk you part way down the aisle?  I've only seen this done with two dads (maybe like a father and stepfather situation) but it might work for you.
  • You could try to have them each walk you part way and line up with you as they each give you away.  Then pick a song that is a little long and dance with each.  You can tell them to be fair that you will draw straws to see who goes first and so forth and so on.
  • You are not a prize mare that needs to be led down the aisle.  Walk yourself.
  • I would walk down the aisle myself.

Then I would pick out a song that is special for each of them and dance with them at different times during the wedding reception so they each have their own special moment.  I wouldn't make ita big scene (eg. having the DJ announce it) but when the song comes on they will know it is specifically for them.

Just make sure to tell the photographer before hand so you can have a good picture of each dance.

  • I walked down the aisle with DH.

You could simply share the father-daughter dance with a medley and cut-ins.

This sounds like a good idea. Dance with each, then walk yourself down the aisle.

  • have your mom walk you down the aisle, or walk yourself down the aisle.

I won't give them each a whole dance but you could choose a song that is on the longer side and give them each a portion of the dance.

  • I think  you should do what feels best to you.  If you feel in your heart its your grandfather that should be walking you down the aisle then go for it!

I would have my grandpa walk me down the aisle - follow your heart. I walked down the aisle with my dad, but I did this dance thing with my god father (it was supposed to be with my grandpa, who is a major part of my life, but he had to be hospitalized on the day of our wedding and wasn't there) - it was just a special song, wasn't even announced, but he knew it was for him.

  • Dude, this is so easy... you have 2 arms.  Just have them both walk you all the way down.

    Slowly but surely.
  • Easy - the man who raised you as a father gets to walk you down the aisle.

All can have a father-daughter dance, either individually or each can "cut" in on one another.

  • Have your grandpa walk you down the isle and your step-father give you away. :) Saw this at a wedding recently and it turned out really nice. :)
  • Grandpa, all the way down the aisle. Dad and Stepdad can join partway or meet at the altar to do the handing over of said 'Prize Mare'.

Or have Dad meet at the altar with GPa and StepDad walking you down.

The dance being a medley, let each one choose the song he would wish played when dancing w you and blend it into a slightly longer dad/daughter thing.

Could the 'dad' response be spoken by Grandpa: 'Her family does'.. when pastor asks who giveth the woman?

I have to giggle about the prize mare comment. Some folks would be complimented to be spoken of as a Thorobred
