I just saw on Perez Hilton that Amber from Teen Mom makes $280K a year!!! Seriously WTF??? I bust my butt helping people and don't even bring in 1/4 of that!

Re: Teen Mom salary??? WTF?
Then why does she struggle, and complain abt money? She wouldn't need the tanning salon job if thats the case...
Then again, i'm not surprised.
I am not the high and mighty type, but WTF?!
These kids get KTFU at an early age, and have enough drama in their lives to keep viewers coming back - so they get paid more than I ever will?!
::head slammed on WORK desk::
OMG, my thoughts exactly.
my read shelf:
This. Amber couldn't even afford sheets for her child's bed, so I highly doubt that they get paid that much. Hell the crew from Jersey Shore doesn't make that per episode and they seem just as popular.
Huh. Apparently all you have to do to make bank is find the skeeviest guy around when you're sixteen & hump him. If only someone had told me that ten years ago. I definitely missed that memo.
:: huge dramatic eye roll ::
I actually heard this somewhere else this morning too, so I think maybe it's not just Perez Hilton reporting it. Either way, I'm offended.
ten-tenners' may siggy: me & mama on my wedding day
What's LittleMissNewlywed Cooking?
I thought of this too, and JS cast is getting $30K/episode for season 3 which equates to around $300K for the year with a 10 epi season.. of course this is all internet facts.. but still. I guess it is possible she makes that much. Maybe there's a stipulation because of her age that she doesn't get the money until she's a certain age? Who the F knows. Either way it's so annoying.
The Jersey Shore kids must do OK! I was behind Pauly D recently a few streets from my house in his custom Mercedes. Check out the "Pauly D" on the back of it! (I blurred his plate.)
(I don't watch the show but, yes, I was a geek who pulled out my iPhone to take pic, and he saw me doing so in his side mirror and smiled. Haha.)
Clicky
It was reported in October that they made $60k for teen mom. I did notice on the "No Easy Decision" episode, the couple had a decent apartment and a car that worked! Props to them for investing wisely!
That makes me sick!! If they make that much then why are they struggling so much? We didn't even make a quarter of that and we supported a family of 5 plus paid for a wedding. How are some of these "Teen Moms" getting welfare if they are making that much!? I got pregnant at 18... I wish I would of got that memo. Man I could be living pretty right now....
There is also the possibility that this is entirely TV put on. There is no telling what kind of money those shows bring in, and it would be really irresponsible to show girls who get pregnant at 16 who makes millions by sharing their experience on TV and live in really nice houses and have no problems.
Jeremy actually read somewhere that the pregnancy rates for underage kids had gone down since this show, I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I'm sure when a few kids hear this they'll be hoping for babies to be popping out!
Ahhh you beat me to it!
I have never watched the show, but from Yahoo & TMZ I think I got the jist.
If MTV indeed pays them that much, I'm sure they still want to make sure it looks like they live as they would without the money. Could you imagine the backlash they would receive if they showed these teens in nice houses, living the good life, and not working? It wouldn't be a very true image of what happens when having children at a young age.
Seriously.. they only made $60K for the year.. at 16-18 years old..for getting KTFU
It took me a college degree and a few years of experience to get that. Alright, I'm done ranting about this.
I agree with Michelle. I think they continue to 'act' like they are struggling because that is what brings in viewers. No one wants to watch a show where these girls are doing wonderful and nothing is going wrong, ya know? They probably have some kind of deal with MTV to portray their lives a certain way. Heck, the apartments and such they show might not even be where they actually live.
With that being said, I love Teen Mom and never miss an episode lol
