Re: Bored!!

  • Book of the Year Me and Emma

Movie of the Year That's hard to pick. Out of what I've seen: Inception.

TV Show of the Year The Big Bang Theory

Tell us a favorite memory/story from 2010 I had a pretty awesome year being a nanny. She's adorable and so fun.

  • Book of the Year Oh man, I have read over 50 books this year...I would have to say that one of the ones that really made an impression was  The Boy who Harnessed the Wind.

Movie of the Year Hmmm, I dont know if I can narrow it down (at least this early in the a.m.) Hot tube time machine, SATCII, Due Date, Black Swan, True Grit

TV Show of the Year I got pretty hooked on Sons of Anarchy.  I Love Greys Anatomy and Private Practice

Tell us a favorite memory/story from 2010 I was surprised by how much fun I had at my aunts on Christmas Day.  Our family situation has been pretty rough and awkward this year.  Christmas Day there was a big group of us sitting around chatting and playing games.  At one point it kinda hit me that everyone was laughing, smiling  and just really having a good time.  It seems silly, but it was very emotional because I just can't remember the last time things have been like that in a loooong time.

  • Book of the Year: I read a lot this year too and I think my favorite was The Art of Racing in the Rain.

Movie of the Year: Inception really took me by surprise. I loved it.

TV Show of the Year: We really discovered Mad Men and HIMYM this year.

Tell us a favorite memory/story from 2010: I loved being a part of my BIL's wedding. All of the events leading up to it and the wedding day itself were so much fun. The other best thing for me was our trip to NO in Feb. T and I had so much fun together and ate such amazing food. The 3 for 1's didn't hurt either. :)

  • Book of the Year: Outlander for sure, but followed closely by The Help.

Movie of the Year: I didn't really see a lot of movies this year and can't really think of one that was a favorite. But a few I enjoyed this year were Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, and Iron Man 2. Seems like I haven't seen a lot of the favorites but maybe on DVD soon.

TV Show of the Year: That's tough... I'm totally addicted to Mad Men now, but I also watched Big Love on DVD and thought it was fantastic.

Tell us a favorite memory/story from 2010: One memory that sticks in my mind is when we went camping over the 4th of July weekend for DH's birthday. He picked a pretty obscure spot near Bakersfield where we thought it would be super hot and no swimming available (he wanted to go out looking for snakes and lizards - the joys of marrying a wildlife biologist...)

Anyway, so most of our friends/his brothers chose not to come for those reasons. It ended up just being three of us and the dog. The spot he chose ended up being really secluded with very few other people camping there. It was beautiful in a sort of deserted, remote way. There was just nothing and no one for miles around, just hills and wildlife and quiet and sunsets. It was really relaxing and beautiful and I'm so glad we went.

Book of the Year Me and Emma

I haven't read the above, but the description sounds a lot like Bastard Out of Carolina. Have you read that?

  • Book of the Year I honestly didn't read any new books this year. But I did read a book that I absolutely LOVED..."The Middle Place" by Kelly Corrigan.

Movie of the Year Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows..just cuz I'm a nerd like that

TV Show of the Year Parenthood, hands down!

Tell us a favorite memory/story from 2010 Just one?! Hmmm, our first whole family vacation with my parents, me & dh, and my brother &sil was AMAZING. It was the first time we've been on vacation with my parents since we were young and it was a perfect cruise. We ate too much, drank too much, laughed the hardest about weird things...It was great!

  • Book of the year: I'm lame, and didn't read much this year. Couldn't finish anything I picked up. I'd like to start reading again, but my CMP books just came in, so I'll be reading those for the next 7 months. :(

Movie of the Year: Really liked Inception. Saw a few others I enjoyed, but that one stuck with me.

TV Show of the Year: I'm a Gleek. The end. (But Big Bang, Outsourced, Community, and HIMYM are now the usuals I try to catch.)

Favorite Memory: Gosh I have a ton - DH finishing chemo; going to Disneyworld to celebrate; not coming in last place during a Full Bronze American Smooth Multi-Dance; Reno Dance Sensation; getting to know some people at the studio better... etc.

  • Book of the Year-I did no reading this year but did lots of studying!

Movie of the Year-I am trying to remember all of them we saw. I have to say Harry Potter as that was the last one we saw.

TV Show of the Year-Alot of my favorite shows were not great this year. The one that stands out is Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That show is hilarious.

Tell us a favorite memory/story from 2010-Besides my niece being born?!? I am going to go with my first long distance race-the 9 mile race of Big Sur. I had never done anything past a 10K in my life and I could not believe I trained for a 9 miler in 2 mos. Race day could not have been more perfect. We got there really early...almost an hour early. I hate being rushed during race day so we checked in and then slept in the car for 30 mins. When we began to line up, the sun came out and we were ready to go. The weather was perfect, the scenery was gorgeous but O.M.G. the freakin hills on this race. It was bad. We did train on some hills so we knew what to expect but still...that last mile was litterally a killer. However, I finished, got a medal and then went straight for the beer line!! Hey I have my priorities!!!

    ...and go!

Nope, but I'll probably check it out now. I'm in need of new book recommendations. I think I originally saw someone recommend Me and Emma on the book board and I'm so glad I read it.

  • Book of the Year Pat of Silver Bush (published in 1933 but I read it this year)

Movie of the Year I didn't go to the theatre at all this year. Something that was new to me? Probably something on PBS or the History Channel (yes, I'm a boring teacher). The History of Religion in America was good so was When World's Collide about first contact. I also saw Wind at my Back Christmas for the first time and liked it.

TV Show of the Year Top Chef Masters (it's new this year) and I discovered Fri Night Lights this year and love it

Tell us a favorite memory/story from 2010 Getting a Christmas tree put up after 6 years of not having the room! Moving into a place I'm not embarrassed to have people come over and see.

  • Book: The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Those books hooked me like a fish.

Movie: I can't think of a single decent movie I saw this year.

    TV show: Dexter.

Favorite memory: Our trip to Death Valley was definitely the highlight of the year. That place is so otherwordly and unusual and dh and I both had a fantastic time.

My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • Book of the Year: Hmm...I read and loved Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. This was also the year I discovered Outlander and that was fantastic.

Movie of the Year: I loved Due Date, It's Kind of a Funny Story, The Road.

TV Show of the Year: We started watching Chopped on the Food Network and LOVE it. We also finished up season 6 of Weeds, which was awesome.

Favorite memory/story of 2010: Hanging out with my niece and nephew in New Jersey; Going to Disneyland with my husband our friends this month; adopting 2 new cats from the humane society.
