Holiday weight gain?

How did you do?

i gained a few (1 or 2lbs).  Mostly b/c i ate out the whole week before b/c i was on travel, and then ate out some with family/friends.  Now that i'm back home, i'm hoping to jump it will be easy to lose b/c i'll be eating right again.

Re: Holiday weight gain?

  • All of my weight came from the honeymoon and thereafter, settling in.  We had planned to start back on the diet and regular gym routine on the 26, but we got lots of candy for Christmas and we had friends over and whatnot, so we're just coasting til Saturday...hopefully I'll have more luck with my weight loss in 2011 than I did in 2010!

  • I lost a lot of weight in the weeks before the wedding without trying, so I had gained about 11 pounds back, but then I lost about eight of that and now I'm back up a few. It's been a roller-coaster of a couple of months! Part of it was my thyroid and I lost a little when he upped my meds, but then I ate a lot of crap and we've been going out a lot because we were just too busy to cook.

I liked the "too afraid to look" option. I avoided the scale for about a week or so because of that but got back on yesterday because I have a doctor's appointment, so I'd rather not be surprised when they weigh me!

  • I lost a couple lbs before the wedding (was 111/112lbs) and now I am 118 (+/- 1 lb), I feel disgusting and all the extra lbs are on my belly. At one point I was worried I was preggo.

  • I've also been on a roller coaster lately.  Before the wedding I got in shape with diet and excersize, so I was down a good 20lbs.  With honeymooning and finally eating what ever I wanted.. I put a solid 15 back on.  Right after Thanksgiving I lost 10, but with my birthday celebrations and Christmas, I'm right back to being up 10-15.  I keep telling myself I'll get back into a workout routine with the new year.
  • I have been probably 10% as careful with my diet and workouts post-wedding as I was before the wedding.

However, for the holidays, I haven't gained any way, post wedding though, I've gained about 5 pounds.

DH got me a heart rate monitor watch for Christmas which is definitely inspiring me to get back into the workout mode!

  • I've gained about 3 or 4lbs. Planning on getting strict after the holiday. I've gotten down 65+lbs over the past few years and I would LOVE to get a total of 100lbs off. I figure if I can do 65lbs I've got to be able to do 35 more. It may take a while, but hey...if it comes off and stays off that's all that matters. I want to get healthier.

  • The only concern I let myself have is "do my jeans still fit??"

I lost about 30 lbs, gosh, like 5 years ago now, and have kept this "new" weight without a problem.  I strongly dislike the "I need" clothes shopping, especially pants (I much prefer the I want shopping :) so my only judge of weight changes are my pants, really.

My two favorite pairs of jeans do feel a little more snug, but they still fit.  I keep telling myself to get back on a running regime, but the question of "cold outdoors" vs "extra time needed to workout at the gym" is delaying everything.

I have 3 younger sisters, talk about an image concerned household,  and my mom never let us own a scale.  I've contemplated buying one many times, but I still haven't bought one myself.  The only reason I kind of know my weight changes is the doctors and occasionally stepping on the scale at the gym.

  • Ugh, since the wedding I've gained appox. 6 lbs :(

I worked SO hard before the wedding... eating so well and working out so hard that I think I just became burnt out. I went back to the gym for the first time in 2 months this week and oh man am I sore.

I'm annoyed with myself because I was so good and so toned and now I have to start all overrrrrr.

    Vent over.

  • OMG! I've gained so much weight! Mostly on the Honeymoon. I had lost 30 pounds in the last 6 months before the wedding, and I have put it all back on plus!

  • I picked afraid too look! I have been steadily gaining the weight back that I lost since after the wedding. The honeymoon was kind of the kick-off in eating, then with the holidays I have not been able to keep up. But a New Year is a new start and I am looking forward to my sugar detox! I am actually sick of candy and desserts at this point..which means I have eaten WAY too much of them!

  • I was a little afraid to weigh myself this week, but was pleasantly surprised when I did...up until Thanksgiving DH and I were really watching what we ate then we got sidetracked until Christmas now we're getting back on track...but over the week of Christmas I actually lost a little bit of weight (less than a pound)
