Okay, you know it has to be done. What are you goals/thoughts/resolutions about 2011?
Re: New Year's Resolutions!
For DH and I... we're working on giving more this year. It's been a spoken priority since we got married but we haven't done a good job of putting our words into action.
For me... I'm working on not getting so bent out of shape if I can't keep everything in perfect order. It's really hard for me to relax enough to even go to sleep if the house isn't up to my standards. The beginning of this year is going to be so busy and I'm trying to find balance in my emotions and knowing what has to be done and what can wait.
I'm starting with those because I usually just ignor resolutions and goals all together in fear of failure. I might add one or two more but I know it's better for me to keep the list small so I don't give up.
MY BLOG!
I really want to pay off some serious chunks of debt in 2011. I feel like we'll be close to paying some things off by the end of this coming year.
As with everyone else in the country, I'd also like to work out more. I just really hate going to the gym. I don't enjoy it at all and I think it's a waste of time, so it's really hard to be motivated. Hopefully I can go at least 2 or 3 times each week. That would be a huge step for me. I've gained about 10 lbs. since the wedding and I'm starting to notice it.
I'll be weighed at my gyno appointment later today, so maybe that'll be motivation enough for me!
I'm hoping to budget more wisely and cut back on some of my unnecessary shopping!
I am going to try to reduce my stress...not sure how to go about this but I am going to try!
I would like to start eating healthier. Of course, I would like to lose weight. I always have that resolution though so this year I am going to focus first on the foods I am eating.
I would love a teaching job too...that's more luck/hope/being in the right place at the right time though
My first one is a little silly, but I want to fix my car up. I've had my car since high school and while it runs fine, it's got some cosmetic issues at this point. I was pretty jealous of DH for his new car and since we can't afford a new one for me too, I'll just make myself feel better about driving the one I have.
I want to stop beating myself up when I miss a workout. I'm not in quite as good shape as I was for the wedding, but there is no reason for me to feel as guilty as I do when I eat some cake or skip a yoga session.
I need to get better at budgeting, especially now that DH is going back to school.
I would also like to set a plan, career-wise/location-wise, but there are just too many things that need to happen first.

My resolution is to make healthy diet and exercising more of a lifestyle for me, and less of a quick fix. I have enough will-power to diet and exercise when I want to lose weight, but as soon as the weight is gone, I fall back into my old habits and gain it all back and then some. It's a vicious cycle, and I just want to stop the yo-yo'ing extremes and have a constant, decently healthy diet and activity level.
I also want to pay off our credit cards and stop using them beyond what we budget each month- for good. We've paid them off so many times, but the balances always start creeping back up. That one goes hand in hand with following our budget more strictly...
I too would like to shake the last 10 pounds. I gave up WW for December but I am going to start again, and be serious about it, in January. Last year was a first ever confident enough to wear a bikini summer and I refuse to fall back in to old habits.
I also would like to cut back on needless shopping. We honestly have so much stuff. We've donated quite a bit in 2010 (as in clothes, furniture, old electronics etc) but we really could spare to take another look at what we can and can't live without.
I also want to stop talking about yoga and do it! When I asked about it a couple months ago on here I got great advice but I am still nervous about it for some reason...oh and I want to learn Russian, but it's expensive.
- Learn spanish (since I work with kids from different countries, it would come in handy!!)
-Stop drinking soda (its all I EVER drink)
-Continue being vegetarian but contribute less to factory farming. I recently found a dairy farm close to my house that sells fresh milk, cheese, butter, and fresh yard eggs.
-Donate time to an animal shelter by taking photos of their animals. Seeing how animals are treated here in Alabama is so different than where I am from, it's really eating at me and I think by donating a service to help them, it will help me cope with it a little easier
My Blog!
1. DH and I would like to get our money situation a little more under control. I will be making the last payment for my car in February and then after that we want to focus on getting the credit cards paid off.
2. I would definitely love to lose some weight. I have even considered trying the Slim Fast 3-2-1 plan that I have done a little research on. This will not be an easy thing for me because I get bored with the same thing all of the time which really shows that I have no discipline. It would also be a good idea if I increased my activity level.
3. My third thing kinda ties the first two together. After a lot of discussion over the past 5 or 6 months, DH and I have decided that we are ready to start trying to have a baby. I feel that if I can get a handle on my first two goals that it will ease my concerns about this third one. I know that my concerns will never be gone but I feel like they will be slightly lowered.
There's a lot on ou list this year!
1. Give more with regard to time/energy, not necessarily funding. We participated in our first One Brick event last month, and I think we'll be doing a lot more work with them in 2011.
2. Pay off both of our cars. Our PIF calculators show us paying mine off in August and his in October...keeping my fingers crossed this actually happens since we're pretty agressive with paying things off.
3. Pay off my private student loan. I have a PIF goal for that in August.
4. Save ~$15k. We're on track to save more than that, but there always seems to be some hiccup (car issues, raises in tuition, etc).
5. Buy a house.
6. And like everyone else: be healthier and exercise more
That's the best way to do it!
MY BLOG!
Woo! Congratulations on this next step in your marriage!
MY BLOG!
To remind myself daily that I am SO incredibly lucky to have the life that I have, and to work harder to deserve the gifts that I've been given.
And losing 15 pounds wouldn't hurt.....
I will ride my bicycle AFTER the Cinderella ride in April, no matter what life tosses at me! Riding makes me better on all kinds of levels, and I deserve that.
I went from veg to vegan in November, and I will continue to explore exactly what that means to me.
For DH and I, we're looking forward to a quiet year (fingers crossed!) With the house purchased, the jobs secure, and the wedding behind us, we could use a year to just settle.
I will spend more time with people outside of DH; friends, family; the other people who create the universe in which I live. I need them all to be complete. (This means a better 10 o; Niner as well- I love you all so much!)
Hope it's the Best Year Ever!
