I'm a little concerned...
My aunt (single mother of 3 boys) texted me and asked me if I would take care of her boys if something happened to her. What?!?! What is with the crazy talk. I texter her back and no response from her. I can't call her until I get off work. I'm just a little worried.

It was bothering me so I called her. The kid's dad has come back in their lives, long story but he's a major douche bag. He's not been in their lives until just recently. He's spent maybe 1 year's total amount of time in their lives through all their years.
Anyhow, she said that if anything should happen to her she does not want him to get custody of the kids. She asked the kids who they would want to live with if anything happened to her and they said me. I'm so touched that they would want to live with me. So, she needs to work on her will to give me custody should anything happen to her.
Holy cow! I hope nothing EVER happens to her or I'll be a mama to pre-teens!
Maybe she's just working on her will, and trying to figure out the details like this. She may not have realized it may come off kinda weird!

Yes, she has sole custody and yes, she's in CA (Santa Clara County).
That's all good, then! If she doesn't have a will, she can do a statutory one that is free, you just fill in the blanks and have it witnessed. There's a place to list who you want to be as guardian, which the court would take into consideration.
