Poll....Do you make your bed EVERYDAY?

My MIL and I were talking and she could not believe I do not make my bed daily. I do  not make DD do it either.

So, Do you make yours everyday?

[Poll]

Re: Poll....Do you make your bed EVERYDAY?

  • It worked!!! Sorry it is not exciting....
  • Yes, every single day.   It is the first thing H and I do in the morning.
  • I think it's cool if someone feels compelled to do it, but I find it an utter waste of my time and don't see myself ever making bed-making a priority.  The only time I make my bed is if I know we're having company over and I'm going to want to give them a tour of the house or something.
  • I don't make the bed at all, unless I am putting fresh sheets on.  DH will pull the sheets up before we get into bed to straighten them out.

There has been a study that shows that people that do not make their bed are happier than those that make their bed every day!

  • We only do it if we're having company. I hate making the bed!

This.  Everything in my house is clean and in order, just never the bed.

  • Since we've been at our new house, I try to make the bed every day.  It makes the room look so much neater.  Our bed is also the first thing you see when you walk up the stairs.  It makes a big difference.

    This to a T.

H would like it if I made the bed every day.. He grew up having to have his bed made, I didn't. If he wants it made, well.. to bad, I'm usually still sleeping when he leaves, or I go back to bed after he leaves. Stick out tongue

The way you say he grew up "having his bed made" leads to me suspect that he was not the one making it all those years.  I think you're doing him a favor by dissuading him from the notion that women are made to walk around making men's beds for them.  Stick out tongue

  • No, I wrote, "having to have his bed made" ..meaning, he had to make it. His Mamaw ran a tight ass ship.

Trust me, he in no way, shape or form thinks I'm his maid. Big Smile

Ok, I misread that.  I suppose he can't very well make it himself with you still in it in the morning!

  • We are odd...we don't make the bed in the morning, but before bed my H makes the bed so its ready and straightened up to get in. Im pretty sure that is weird haha

  • Growing up, my parents forced me to make my bed every single day! Omg, it was so stupid. They're very rigid about things like that. I got so used to it. My weekday morning routine from the ages of 8-18 was: alarm goes off, roll out of bed, make bed right then and there, then go into bathroom to get ready for day. So silly but wow, my parents really trained me good.

As an adult, we don't make our bed unless company is coming, and we're giving tours of our house, like many of you have said.

And to this day, when I stay at my parents' house, my mom will come in the room where I'm staying and btch at me to make my bed.

I totally get it, though. Sometimes I kinda do the same thing, it feels nice to have the sheets all straightened out before you get in them again!

I could almost have written this word for word! Except when I go home, my dad doesn't complain about an unmade bed, but I still make it because I feel like I should.

At my house though, I only make it when we have company coming. I wish I weren't so lazy about it because it really makes the room look neater when it's made, but we rarely have people over, and we're only ever in the bedroom when we're sleeping. So, I don't really see the point most days.

  • I'm really surprised to see like two of us here that make our bed everyday.  To me it makes my house feel neat.  Working from home, I walk past my bedroom numerous times a day, so it is nice to have things picked up.

  • Most mornings ... if it's not done in the morning it's done before we go to bed so the sheets are tucked in on the bottom.  I feel better walking in the bedroom when it's taken care of.

  • I make mine everyday, although I usually don't get to it until mid-morning (on the days I don't work). It takes a few minutes of my time and makes me feel so much better. When it isn't made, the room looks messy to me even though it's not.

Sometimes on Sundays (provided no one is coming over), I do not make it. Kind of an effort to relax and let things go a little. I know that's silly, but it's a big deal to live with a messy bed all day for me.

No, not weird.  Well, unless we are weird too, which is probably more likely :)  This is what we do too, only we take turns, and the one of  us who makes the bed is the one who "tucks in" the other of us.  Love getting tucked in.  Ok, yep, we are the odd ones, lol.

  • This is how I was BEFORE we got married and H moved in.  He however likes to make it everyday, so we do.

  • As a kid my mom always tried to get us to make our beds.  When I was in college I made my bed every day since I had to constantly see it but now we don't bother.  I only try to straighten it out when we have company over that might see it.  Otherwise, I just close the door.

This is pretty much us, too.  I'm usually the one to make it, but Felix will if I'm running late or busy doing something else.  The only time I don't make it is when I'm going to wash the linens that day.
