Hi girls!
I don't post much anymore, but frequently lurk, and keep myself updated! I hope everyone had a good holiday, and Happy New Year! This year flew by, but what a good one we had!
Anyways, I have a silly question. We registered for Fine China - Love Story by Mikasa. We received only four place settings, and no serve ware or bowls, etc. I kinda feel like we'll only use it maybe on our anniversary, or for a holiday. And without the rest of the set, like serving bowls, dishes, etc, I might not even use it then.
I kinda feel like returning the four sets to BBB to get something fun. But, then I get sentimental, and think about how it's our 'wedding' china and maybe we'll use it, or pass it down, etc...Or I think I need to buy the rest of the china, so that it will be more usable...
What do you think? Return it, or keep it, and keep adding on to our collection?
Re: china
I don't know why, but I was expecting this to be a post about China the country, not dishes.
Honestly, I would return the pieces you did receive. You already said you would not use them too frequently. Plus, it would cost a lot to supplement what you did not receive as gifts. I think there are more fun and/or useful things that you could get in exchange for the china.
BB&B makes it very easy to return gifts and get other items. We have made exchanges 2 or 3 times to get exactly what we want/need.
This. Return what you did get and go get yourself something fun (that you'll use!)
We actually didn't register for fine china because we knew that it would more than likely go unused. Instead we registered for nicer every day stuff. Do you already have everyday dishes? Could you get more everyday place settings?
I think it depends on how badly you want the china, and how willing you are to pay for it yourself. We were lucky, we received 6 settings, 26 of the 36 goblets we registered for, all of the flatware/serve ware, and most of the accessories. We still have to get some settings and fruit bowls and soup bowls, etc, but this is something I really really want and I'm willing, over the course of time, to pay for it.
If we had only received four, I'd probably be pretty depressed about it, but I bet that DH would talk me into returning it, but we'd buy "fun" stuff like specialty kitchen electrics or bakeware or something.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
Thanks for the responses! We decided to return it, for many of the reasons here. We had a nice set of every day dishes with serving pieces that we will use way more. Now, I just gotta find something fun to buy from BBB!
Happy 2011!
