s/o books.. Romance Novels?!

Since I just got the iPad and one of you lovely ladies recommended the amazon app.. I've been browsing "free" books.  I came across listings for Romance Novels so I downloaded a preview of one.. and now I can't stop.

I've never read romance novels, so I had no idea the details!  I literally can't put my first one down at night because I just have to know when she's going to see him again and where they'll meet and how far she'll let him go! I get all flustered reading it! It's incredibly hott Embarrassed

Has anyone else read romance novels before?!

Re: s/o books.. Romance Novels?!

  • I have! I go through phases where I read the more serious fiction and then i need a break. One of my favorite "romance" authors is Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She's super easy to read and a lot of her books have the reoccurring characters which I loved.

  • Oh man! Story of my life. The plus side of ipads and ereaders is no one can see the hideously embarassing covers! I am hooks on paranormal romance. May I suggest J.R Ward and Kresley Cole?!  A few series that I love are: Immortals after Dark    Dark Hunter Series   Black Dagger Brotherhood (*my personal fav) and Lords of the Underworld.

    Uh (hangs head in shame)

I didn't even know this category existed.  I have to admit, it doesn't catch my attention off the bat.  I thoroughly enjoy the romance novels for their sexxy details, so I don't know if I'd like them as much if you add this type of twist.  Maybe I'll order another preview and see how I feel..

  • Oh there are details. But I would definatlety do a preview.
  • The paranormal romance genre is relatively new, but only differs slightly from other romance novels. I also really like Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series and Christine Feehan's Carpathian series, but I'm a bit of a paranormal geek. I've been reading romance for years but that started mostly because that was the only section my library kept adding new books to.

    Yes

I used to be hooked on romance novels until I got sucked into reading in college, I'm currently re-reading the Sleeping Beauty trilogy by a.n. roquelaure (it's actually Anne Rice) it's kinda like a romance novel but way more freaky lol.

I LOVE that Amazon released the "share" option for Kindle today, so exciting.

Forgive my ignorance, what does this mean?

  • I have a nook so I am not positive about the Kindle, but I believe it means that if someone else buys a book they can "share" it and let you "borrow" it for free. Some how one device send the book to another.
  • Oh wow.  I wonder if this applies to iPads?  I wish I had more of an understanding for these things.  I feel like an old person that doesn't understand kid's technology! Tongue Tied
  • They posted this on their FB page today:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_rel_topic?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200549320

It allows me, for instance, to "loan" you a book that I've purchased for my Kindle acct. for 2 weeks so you don't have to buy it. And then I get it back to my acct.

  • I used to read those cheap Harlequin novels all the time. I love me some serious smut! I am going to have to get back into reading some romance.

  • I'm also into the paranormal romance.  It's like Buffy/Angel/Supernatural/etc meets sexy time.  I like it.  Ross likes it too, because it often means he's gonna get lucky ;)

Sherrilyn Kenyon writes really cool stories with great characters.

But my two favs are easily Nina Bangs (haha), and Karen Marie Moning.  Ms. Bangs put out a "series" of three books that are about three guys that work in the same place, that are each paranormal, and how they overcome it.  They're LOL funny, and have some decent steamy parts.  And I like that there's a continuation with characters you've already fallen for.  And Karen Marie Moning has a series about Highlanders (seriously, just the accent makes me weak in the knees), and in each book either the woman travels back in time, or the Highlander travels forward.  There's a lot of character overlapping in the series.  I keep her books (in this series, she has another series about fairies that I think is dumb) out on the bookshelf, and the steamy parts are bookmarked ;)

  • Ok, so I haven't read any romance novels, but now I'm wondering if would help get my sex drive back . . . .  I haven't had much interest lately.

But, have you read Lady Chatterly's Lover?  That book is more classic literature but was banned due to its juicy bits.  Very very hot.

  • I was the same way. I never read romance novels before I got my kindle. When I first got it I was looking though the Free section and downloaded a couple. Every once in a while after I read an intense book, I'll take a break and read a lighter, or quick read book.

Sorry for the late response, but YES!!!

  • I haven't read many romance novels but one that I did read (and sorry I cannot recall the actual name) was from Stella Cameron. I initial thought it was more of a mystery book but she definitely gets the mind racing.
