Question on crib soother

One of my cousins got Charlie a crib soother for Christmas - it's the Ocean Wonders Sparking Soother and to be honest, it looks quite awesome.  HOWEVER, the instructions say that it should be placed 7 inches above the mattress.  She won't be able to reach that, and I really want something for her that she can press and play with while she's lying there.  I googled and on like the third page someone posted that the seven inches was due to Fisher Price not wanting anyone's head to get stuck.  If it's uber-low, like one inch off the mattress, which is where it would be, do you think that's OK?  Thoughts? :(

Re: Question on crib soother

  • we have the FP aquarium one and it started off being about an inch from the mattress, and slowly has gotten higher as we dropped the mattress (mattress is now on the floor cuz Mr. Man can climb out and we have to order the conversion kit..head in sand much?) But yeah.. personally I think it's okay. :)
  • i am sure its fine. we have the aquarium too. it was a few inches from the mattress , but like jana as we dropped it the soother go higher. its fine, just get it. besides could her head really get stuck in an inch of space anyway?

  • Huh. Maybe I should have read the instructions...I have that and it has been in Will's crib since before he was born. It is about an inch off the mattress and we have not had any issues. We have the same in Fred crib and has had it since he was born and no issues there either. Just like Jana said...as he has grown the space has become larger.

From over 3 yrs exp...we haven't had any issues.

  • Thanks guys - I know I'm mental. :)
