Help, I'm being indecisive again (cooking related)
Nutella creme brulee, or Meyer lemon buttermilk pudding cake with blueberry compote for New Year's Eve dessert?
We're having homemade pizzas and salad for dinner if that helps.
Please assist this decision-challenged cook.
Re: Help, I'm being indecisive again (cooking related)
OMG - the Nutella creme brulee sounds amazing!!! Both are 2 of my most favorite things ever!
Would you mind sharing the recipe? I have to try it!
I don't like nutella...so I pick the meyer lemon buttermilk pudding cake w/ blueberry compote...and I'd love the recipe.
And I'd also love the recipe!
Thanks ladies! And Molly, no Nutella?? I can't believe it... DH wants the creme brulee. I'd be happy with either (or both!) but we have a Meyer lemon tree AND leftover buttermilk in the fridge, so I dunno... Here are the recipes. Just know I haven't tried either yet so don't hate me if they end up sucking:
Nutella creme brulee
Meyer lemon buttermilk pudding cake
Blueberry compote (SFGate.com):
2 cups blueberries (I'm using frozen, defrosted)
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. unsalted butter
Combine 1 1/2 cups of the blueberries with the sugar and vanilla in a saucepan. Add just enough water to moisten the sugar; it should look sandy.
Cook over medium-low heat, until the blueberries start to break down, about 7 to 10 minutes. Add the cornstarch mixture and let simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes, until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in the remaining 1/2 cup blueberries and the butter.
Thanks for sharing, and for the record, I've never had anything from epicurious that gets good ratings and doesn't taste great!
Oh awesome! I'm so glad someone has made it. I'm going to make the creme brulee tomorrow but will definitely be making the lemon pudding cake sometime very soon. I'm dying to try it.
