  We have the Canon SD1400.  Sony and Canon's are my top picks for point and shoots (just from what I've learned listening to the "experts" at Best Buy where my H worked).  I can't say anything bad about the Sony because I haven't owned one, but we love both of our Canons.  To me the absolute most important thing about a camera is the quality of the pictures.  I'll sacrifice "ease" of use if the pictures are amazing- and the Canon delivers that for sure.

  I have the Canon SD1200 and love it. I'm a Canon girl all across the board. Sonys are nice, but I'm just so programmed to use Canon cameras that I'd never switch. The quality of the photos is just superior to other cameras. I've seen the pictures compared to other brands and I just love Canon images. Back when I was using an Olympus DSLR camera several years ago, I also purchased an Olympus P&S so that the memory cards would be interchangeable and it was SO NOT worth it. The pictures were so noisy and awful. So back to Canon I went!

  I used to have a Sony Cybershot (from like 2003 or 2004) and I loved it. Actually, I still have it, but it's now my "backup camera." It took great pictures. The problem I had with it is that it takes a specific memory stick, not normal memory cards. It wasn't super annoying, but they're more expensive and they don't fit in an SD slot on a computer.

  I have a Sony H20 and I love it.  I haven't had the problems Elizabeth had with the memory stick though mine is only a year old so maybe they improved it?

  I am definitely a Canon camera person. When I taught yearbook, I had three types of cameras to use - Sony, Canon, and Nikon. The Canons were the easiest for everyone to use, and our little Canon cameras often took better pictures than the Nikon DSLR (although some of that can be attributed to user error

  I bought the Canon camera you're talking about for my current classroom on Amazon a couple weeks ago for $107 - I see some colors are still that price. I've only used it a bit but it's working great.

  Canon hands down. I personally do not believe there is a comparison between a Canon and any other point and shoot camera. Even *most* ladies who shoot Nikon DSLRs on my photography boards, have Canon point and shoots.

  I am a little late to this post.. I got the Canon SD1300 in April for my bday. I have 2 dogs and a 3 yr old so it gets a lot of use and for a basic point and shoot I am happy with the quality of pictures I get.
