Q for those who chart and use OPK

Have you ever got a positive OPK immediately following O?  FF is telling me I O'd three days ago and I have gotten two positive OPKs in the days immediately following.  I again took a OPK today and it was negative, but close to being positive.

Is this an indication that I didn't actually O?  I have tried to Google but couldn't find any answers.  I have also searched the Chart Gallery in FF but I didn't find many charts that were similar to mine.  TIA!

Re: Q for those who chart and use OPK

  • Your chart is kinda stumping me :( Once you've O'd, you really shouldn't get a + opk again, so I'm not sure. But this is also why they say that once you get a +, you should put the opks away and stop testing. Because you'll likely confuse yourself :) As of now, your highest temp is only about a 97.3ish, which is low. Do your temps usually go higher once you O? If so, I'd be inclined to think that maybe you haven't yet. But I'm not sure why you're getting all those + opks.

Well, prior to having Macy I had another FF account with charts that showed I O'ed.  But I have since forgot my User Name and password and I used my old employers email to set up the account.  So I don't have access to those charts :(

Since I have been TTC #2 I haven't recorded an O while charting.  I do have a chart where I took Provera to end a long cycle and my high temps were in the 97.8ish range.  Does that count?  LOL!  But I have always had super low temps.

You are right, I should have stopped the OPKs days ago.  But they are in a basket on top of the toilet and are so tempting :P

I am not hopeful that I did indeed O.  Mostly because I have lost all confidence in TTC.  It seems that every time I am hopeful I am soon disappointed!

  • You know, it's weird, because I haven't ever knowingly been in the 2WW before (I took a break from charting last month when I had the C/P).  I have always stressed waiting to O.  I have never know what it's like to be in the 2WW.  This is new to me!  So please, can you look into your crystal ball and tell me if I have a baby growing inside me?  Ha.

  • I had a positive OPK the day after FF confirmed that I O'd on the cycle that I got pregnant.  I don't think it's completely impossible to have one after, but I wouldn't think that it would be positive for more than a day after.

What kind of OPKs are you using?  I started using OPKs long before we were TTC because I wasn't on the pill and I was trying to learn my cycle.  I had started out using cheap ones, that just had the lines, but I was frustrated with trying to decipher what was truly positive and I was always feeling like I was getting too many positive results.  I started using the First Response digital ones that give you a smiley face.  I liked those a lot better, and the first month we were really TTC, we got pregnant.

By your temps it does look reasonable that you O'd on that day.

  • I just started using OPK's a couple of cycles ago - and my temps are all over the board (DH has been stressed starting a new job, then he was sick ... I was also traveling quite a bit - which has totally messed up my sleep cycles, and hence my temps).  Since my temps were all over the place I introduced OPK's, so I don't really know ...

Good luck - hope you're in the 2WW with me ... Smile

Yeah, I am using the internet cheapies.  I have debated going high class and buying FR or CBE but I keep hoping this will be my cycle and I won't have to spend anymore money on TTC paraphernalia!!  I am thinking if I am not lucky this cycle maybe next cycle I will spring for them.

I am a little bummed that we didn't have sex the day before I O'ed.  My H was in a car accident that day and wasn't feeling up to it.  So our timing may have been off this month :(  But I am hopeful that I actually did O when FF said I did because I am kind of tired of having sex all the time, LOL.  I need a break and so does my vag.

I'm the same as you, I use ICs but I love 'em! I used the smiley face type once, because a friend gave me her extras, and I didn't like it as much. I think the ICs work just fine. And they're so cheap- Under $7 for 25 of them on amazon.

GL!  When do you plan on testing?!

Thursday.  I'm trying to remain optimistic.  We've been timing sex for eight months; checking temps and peeing on things is a PITA!

I'm new to this so I don't know, but the chart looks good to me.  Just wanted to say goodluck!  Hopefully I will be in the 2ww with you soon and we both get BFP!

  • I personally do not think those OPK's work for me.  I have used them for months and months, and never have gotten a postitive, but my Dr. has confirmed through BW that I have O'd.  So I have no faith in them (mine were the cheapies from Amazon).  My temps seem to get higher than yours after I O, but everyone is probably different there.  I used FF for a while, and I didn't trust it much.  Sometimes it would tell me I O'd at a time I really didn't think I did.  Sorry I am not any help to you, I just wanted you to know that I am as confused as you :)  GL!!
