Any knitters/crocheters/felters?

I know there are a bunch of you ladies that knit/crochet/felt. I'm just curious about what you're working on. Maybe we could create a knitters/crocheters/felters club!?

My mom got me some supplies this Christmas, and I'm making a scarf out of this simple yarn she got me! :)

I can't wait until I'm finished! Hopefully I can get it done before my semester starts up!

Re: Any knitters/crocheters/felters?

  • Good Morning!!

I've been knitting for a couple years now (mostly scarves), but have been wanting to try some new projects.  I just started this one:

    http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/L0243AD.html

It doesn't seem too difficult, it's just going to be time-consuming. (The k1, p1 takes me a bit to really get moving on). I love lurking on the Crafts board to see everyone's projects -- they help keep me motivated!

  • I've been knitting for over 6 years...I'm currently not working on anything though...the last thing I made was a blanket for my nephew over the summer.  I go through phases where I'm really into it and then need a break for a while!

  • I just learned how to knit!  I'd been trying for like a month and was doing something wrong and finally figured it out yesterday, I was so excited, hehe.  I just started a baby blanket for my MOH, she's due in april. (Blanket is clicky)

I'm not doing any of their colors, I don't care for any of them.  I picked out some not pastely but not bright colors either.  She's not into pink, and it's a girl, hehe, so there is pink but blue and other colors too.  I've got the first 2 rows knitted!

  • i'm a crocheter, but i haven't made anything in a while.  I'm waiting for my sil to find out the sex of her baby before i make a baby afgan
  • I give you all a lot of credit for knitting blankets! I don't think I'd have the patience for that! I love making hats! But the yarn I got for Christmas isn't what I'd make a hat out of.

I also belong to Ravelry.com, they have some really cute patterns on there!

  • I crochet but I am not working on anything at the moment.  I made two scarves as Christmas presents though.  I wish I would have taken a picture of them, grr.  One was a smaller scarf that was light purple and a cream color for my niece-in-law who is almost 2, and the other was larger and black and burgundy for my younger sister.  I've made pillow cases in the past; I'd really love to make a blanket but it just takes so long...maybe one day.

  • I've been working on a hairpin lace afghan for Brad for a while... apparently it's not an easy crochet to learn, but it's the only type I know how to do! I picked it up really easily.
  • I'm new to crocheting, and right now, I pretty much suck at it, but I'm still trying!  I made a little scarf that isn't embarassing to wear in public, and now I'm working on a matching beret.
  • I crochet and I do it semi-frequently.  I love making scarves, hats and little pin on appliques (like flowers).  I've thought about picking up knitting, but it seems soooo slow compared to crocheting.  My favorite go-to-gift is like a mini-scarf (I kind of made it up myself, but I've seen them posted on crocheting sites, so they might have name) - its like half the length of a scarf, but a bit wider, and with a big button or two, so it snuggly and securely stays around your neck. I can crank one out in like 2 hours, doing doubles with 2 strands going at the same time.  And they are super cute, especially with a big unique button.

The book Happy Hooker is the best, along with you tube videos when I have trouble with a new stitch.

I also took a class on felting with a few friends and I loved it, but I haven't done anything.  My girl friend went crazy with it though and makes the coolest things!!

This is the little snowman I felted for my sister's addition to her family (that'll be coming in April!). Since they don't know what they are having, I thought a frog hat was suitable. :)

  • That is SO cute Diana!  I've never tried felting, and quite honestly never heard of it until I got on the crafts board, but I'm intrigued!

  • Diana:  Adorable!

Felting is ridiculously easy, but there is definitely an art to it, kind of like sculpting, but its a little more forgiving then clay and paint.  Not sure what your area is like, Michelle, but we found a spot in town that does a lot of "crafty" afternoon classes, so for like $30 bucks we spent the afternoon doing a lot of work with wool, including felting.

I wish I had pictures of my friends stuff, she made this big owl once, my jaw hit the floor.

  • I'm still giggling like a five year old over "happy hooker".  But I've been knitting for a couple years now.  I've tried a few scarf patterns, and I'm working on a cable knit.  I'm going to try to learn how to make mittens and hats soon!
  • Felting is so much fun but also very time consuming!! And isn't a good mix with animals (I've had a few people say their's have gotten dipped in waterbowls).

  • It's just wool.  I try to use natural fibers whenever I can!  Thanks!  It is actually really soft.
