If you use a steam mop.

Do you just use the steam mop to clean all your hard surfaces every time?  It kind of skeeves me out that it just uses water to clean.  Do you alternate cleaning with a mop and solution one week and using the shark the next?

Re: If you use a steam mop.

  • Just the steam mop. The steam produced is hot enough to kill most germs. Don't focus on the most part, there are no cleaning agents available that kill all germs - not home cleaners, not commercial cleaners, not even anti-microbial cleaners. If your concerned about how clean your floor is because you have a LO consider this - would you rather your LO be all over a floor with chemical residue and a minute amount of germs, or a floor with a minute amount of germs and no dangerous residue?

Good points! I never thought about it this way.  I"m being silly because it's obvious by looking at the pad afterwards that it's cleaning.  Thanks :)

  • Do you know if there are any hard surfaces you can NOT use a steam mop on? I've heard of a steam mop, but I want to learn more about it. Thanks!

  • We use just the steam mop.  We have two dogs and I would rather them not be walking on chemicals.

I don't know of any floor surface it can't be used on. I use mine on wood, linoleum, and stone and it came with a carpet glider as well. I also have a hand steamer I use on everything else - glass, granite counters, appliances, tile shower, curtains, lamp shades, and on and on. I <3 my steamers Big Smile

I have the Shark Deluxe. The small Shark mop (the one around $35) does not hold enough water IMO. I got mine a BB&B and it came with two rectangular heads (regular and large), one triangular head (for corners and bathrooms), carpet glider, and tons of pads. For the price I think it works really well. Plenty of steam, no leaks, and holds a decent amount of water.

I've tried their hand held steamer and didn't care for it. It's awkward to hold and use because you have to use both hands and doesn't hold much water. It also didn't get hot enough to produce much steam.

I have a large hand steamer that rolls, kind of like a canister vac, with a nice long hose. It holds 6 cups of water, so I can do the whole house, and it gets super hot. I'll have to look at the brand when I get home.

  • Hey! My mom gave me a shark for Christmas and I LOVE it! I have been using it without chemicals, I think it cleans great with just the steam.
