Zumba?

Anyone else on an exercise plan?  I ordered the complete Zumba kit just before Christmas because I am determined to get this weight off, and needed a break from Jillian.  I also know myself and I just don't go to the gym.  So starting with the 26th, here's what was accomplished:

Sun 12/26 - Basic steps dvd, 20 min. express, light shoveling snow.

Mon 12/27 - Shoveling snow for 2 hrs.

Tue 12/28 - Shoveling snow for 1 hr.

Wed 12/29 - 20 min. express dvd

Thurs, 12/30 - 20 min. express dvd

Fri 12/31 - No workout

Sat 1/1 - No workout

Sun 1/2 - 20 min. express DVD

Now that it's back to life after the holidays, I can work out Tuesdays, Wednesdays, maybe Fridays (not sure yet) and Saturday/Sunday.  Mondays and Thursdays I work 14 hour days (out of the house at 6:20, home close to 9pm) and I just can't see fitting in a workout.  I'm hopeful, though, because I'll be working out again - until this week I hadn't worked out since before the wedding!  Anyone jumping back on the working out wagon?  Let's keep each other accountable!

Re: Zumba?

  • I am trying to get back on the fitness bandwagon too. I have been watching what I ate yesterday and today and hopefully will track it tonight.  I am hoping to exercise once each week in January and twice each week in Feb to work up to it.
  • Count me in.  I gained back all the weight I lost for the wedding.  I haven't worked out at all in over a month.  DEFINITELY haven't been watching what I ate.  I tend to be an all or nothing type person so I'm hoping to find more of a balance with working out and healthier eating this year.  I'm so sick of yo-yoing.  I lose a significant amount of weight, swear I'm never gaining it back, then do.  I also notice that as I get older the weight has redistributed itself to places I never had to worry about before.  So to start the year off I dug out my ANCIENT Buns of Steel workout video today.  I do like Zumba a lot.  What do you think of the videos?  I also discovered that I have my dad's old Tae Bo videos.  Might have to give them a try.  I do also belong to a gym.  I could actually, you know, go there.
  • I'm up for this as well. I ordered the the zumba kit and got it right before the holidays. I did okay for the first week and then the holidays hit and I fell off the wagon. I definitely need to lose some weight!

  • SAHM - I've only done the 20 min. express thus far, but I like the fact that each segment is short enough that it keeps your interest, and when you're starting to feel over it, it changes.

  • I jumped back on the exercise bandwagon.  As of Tuesday I officially have gained 10 lbs since the wedding. I have not weighed this much in 5 years!!! :(.  Wednesday I started a cleanse, and I have been doing Zumba Cardio Party since then everyday.  I was also getting sick of Jillian and using weights.  My goal is not necessarily be back at wedding weight but at least lose 5 lbs.  Tomorrow I am going back to work and I am going to start a food diary to watch my food intake, and hope that I have energy to continue zumba, or jillian, and eventually get back to p90x again!!
  • I've jumped back in. I've gained 5lbs since. I just feel disgusting. I don't want to be overweight when i'm older, so i need to practice the right things now.

I've joined the YMCA. As of right now i'll be going to their free classes they offer weekly. Until Jan 24, I plan to do zumba mondays, step tues, zumba wed? or body work, step/sculp on thrusday friday body blast or sumba followed by abs and arms. There's lots to choose from. I'm excited.

i have my son enrolled in a class on wednesday so I'll always have at least one day of exercise. But Jan 24th my son is back in his music class so i won't be able to go mondays.

  • I'm starting by watching what I eat...I'd like to at least have more energy this year even if I don't drop any pounds.  I'd like to be more active, I just don't know if my schedule will allow it.  I don't belong to a gym, so I'd need to get some tapes.  Let me know how you like the zumba!!!!  I'd love to try.

On a semi-related note, I played this dance game (Just Dance?) on my parents Wii with my sisters last night and my arms are super sore today.  It was actually a pretty awesome workout.  This might be an excellent excuse to buy a game system...

  • I'm on the wagon as well. I've been pretty good at getting to the gym - always 2x a week when I go to classes but I want to bump that up to 4-5x a week. On those 3 additional gym days I want to get back into the C25K runs because I really want to run a 5k in the spring.

I need to do a better job of watching what I eat...main just stop eating all the sweets that have been over this holiday season. I started taking vitamins last week so that's a new thing for me too.

  • I am jumping on the wagon! I need to be more consistent with working out. I, like Lauren, would like to go 4-5 times a week instead of 2-3 and sometimes even just 1. My eating has been awful the past two weeks so I am going grocery shopping today for better food choices and am hoping I can do good this week and then continue on.

I want to do a lifestyle change where it just feels natural to eat well and workout instead of feeling like I'm forcing myself to do something all the time.

  • I am with you guys.  Although I don't necessarily want to drop many pounds, I really want to get into better shape.  First of all, I need to stop eating like it's still the holidays.  Starting today, I am back to healthy lunches and not eating cookies for every snack!  Next, I need to make my exercise more of a commitment.  I know I've said this before, but I need to go out to ride more.  It effects Velvet, too, if I don't ride as often, which isn't fair to her.  I also need to get back on the 30ds.  I can actually see the difference in my body if I do the workouts even twice a week.  I am hoping the weather allows me to start running again too, as one of my goals is to run in my first road race this spring/summer.

Also, Nicole, I played the Dance Central game for the Kinect this weekend. I haven't played the Wii one, but DC really gets your heart rate up!  It actually makes you work while your having fun!

  • yeah, ive been half-on-half-off the bandwagon in the last few months. but im committed to being wholly on from now on! i just got the p90x dvds from my friend so as soon as i get to the store to pick up the resistance bands i need, im starting! im going to try to get DH to do it with me too.

I know its going to be hard especially because i am SEVERELY out of shape, but i can do it.

Most importantly, i need to be more confident and feel better about myself. And being healthier will absolutely assist me in that. I'm still on Weight Watchers...so hopefully that helps me too
