Yup, I'm a bad person. And I want to TTC.

So I'm bored and cruising the sex and romance board.  It seems like a lot of people lurk there, there are posts with only a handful of replies, but 2500 (yes I meant both zeros!) views!

Anyhow, I'm ready to TTC, but H isn't.  Okay.  It'll keep for a while longer.  So I'm obviously still on BC, I would never secretly go off of it to "trick" him (I know a woman who did... baaaaaaad idea).  But I just saw two women in a thread both say they got pregnant while using the Nuva Ring.... Am I a completely horrible person to hope this is us??

Re: Yup, I'm a bad person. And I want to TTC.

  • I don't think you are a bad person for hoping that.  It's not like you're tricking him, it would be an accident :)

I am officially off the pill and we'll start "trying" in February (the doctor suggested 2 cycles off the pill before we start), but I'm secretly hoping we get pregnant before.

  • You can add a third Jena... one of my closest friends conceived her adorable boy with NuvaRing.

  • No, you aren't a bad person at all! If it were to happen it would be an accident and not intentional!

I feel the same way-I am 100% ready and DH is not ready and wants to wait till the summer :-(

  • You are definitely not a bad person. Ross will come around!

I wish our bodies would cooperate and let me get PG. We are going on vacay in February during my ovulation time, so here's to hoping!

  • LOL! You're not a bad person ;o) I used the Nuva Ring for a year and a half and never got pregnant. Of course, we've been using no protection at all for the past 14 months and I haven't gotten pregnant. I'm pretty sure I'm the least fertile person on the planet. I didn't like the Nuva Ring, tho. We definately both felt it everytime we had sex. I would look forward to the day I took it out every month. I wouldn't get my period until 3 days after, so we would have the best sex of the month those 3 days lol

  • Not at all Jena.

DH & I, luckily, are both on the not ready TTC, timeline right now...but I have a feeling in the future, it'll be me who wants to start trying too.

And yes, I've threatened that I'll go off BC without him knowing, but would I ever do that - no.  However, for you and getting PG while still on NuvaRing, my thought is that if it's meant to happen, then it :O) GL!

  • You are not a horrible person. As they say nothing is 100% except for abstinence (which we know is just no fun).

That's the main reason I didn't want to get it. I HATE the pill, but I can deal if it means not feeling it during sex.
And the fact that people keep getting preggers while using it aint helping! :)

  • Phew, glad to hear it!

I've been on the ring for over a year now (can't remember when I started, but more than 1.5 years ago).  I actually love it a lot.  But we do take it out for sex.  It can be out for up to three hours without losing it's effectiveness.  "uhh, the friend needs to come out."  "oh yeah... best. face. eVAR."  It feels weird/super awkward on the way out, and I make a weird face every time.  We don't skip a beat, it's not mood killing or anything.   I'm bad at remember to take pills at a certain time, and it's a low dosage that doesn't make me crazy (lo ovral made me aggressively angry).

If it's meant to happen, it'll happen regardless, I think.  But I want to revisit the idea in a few months.  My clock is ticking, just ask our niece.  She's three, and this summer she said to me, "Auntie Jena, when you gonna have babies?"  "Wow Madison, why do I need to have babies so soon?"  "You're getting older."  Ummm, wth??!?!?!?!  You know she didn't come up with that on her own.  It doesn't help that she was right. :P

Oh god, that is hilarious.  They're such little pawns at that age. But some of the stuff they come up with on their own is pretty freaking smart.

And fwiw, I don't think you're a bad person either. We are waiting for another year or so to even think about TTC, but at 35 (and a half), I've had some similar thoughts.  I'm on the pill, but I screwed up taking it one day last month, and I thought, "hmmmm..."  It helps, though, that I'm only a year and a half away from being eligble for full pay if I go out on maternity leave. That 25% is a BIG incentive for waiting.

  • DH and I are at the same point now of, if it weren't for the cruise this summer I'd say let's just start now, but before we reached that point part of me wished for an accident every month...and even though we've agreed it is best to wait part of me still wants that!
