WWYD? Meds related

So yesterday I mentioned that I finally went to the walk-in, they diagnosed me with a sinus infection, and gave me ammoxicilian, flonase, mucinex d, and advil. The sinus congestion has definitely been relieved.  Now I'm coughing up a storm, and couldn't sleep last night because of it.  My question is should I just start taking an over the counter cough medicine?  I'm so nervous b/c I'm already taking so many other meds.  And to make matters worse, I've developed cold sores in my throat, so swallowing is a BEE-YOTCH!

Thanks ladies.  I'm sorry to sound so whiny.  Thank God JJ was looking & feeling good  enough to go to day care today.  I'm sitting on the couch for the day!

Re: WWYD? Meds related

  • I would maybe call the walk in and ask or ask the pharmacy

  • I would call your dr. and check.   They may rx you robitussin with codeine.

  • Is the mucinex labeled as an expectorant?  If so, it's already part of what cough syrup is, so you won't want to take more expectorant on top of it.

But, you may be able to switch to regular cough syrup - the pharmacist would be the one to ask.

  • Thanks for the suggestions.  I called CVS. They told me that I want to keep coughing so that all the mucus doesn't settle and get infected in my lungs.  I should be only taking cough meds at night to help me sleep.  Sounds good to me!
