QOTD

Do you carry a gun or have one in your home for protection?

Re: QOTD

  • Nope.  And can't imagine owning one myself.  My dad had a few in our house growing up, but those were for hunting.

  • Josh and I don't, but our roommate has three (i think). I yelled at him cuz he didn't check with us first. I don't like guns.

  • Yes, we have a 9mm pistol and have been shopping for another.  We enjoy target shooting, and will be attending the concealed carry permit classes soon.

  • Nope. It's never even crossed my mind.

  • We can't have one over here and I'm okay with that.  Clearly I don't have a problem with weapons since I've carried one 24/7 for months at a time, but I really don't feel the need to have one now.  I grew up with hunting rifles but my parents kept them locked up and we took safety classes when we were young.  I don't have a problem with guns, as long as the owners are responsible and understand the responsibility.

    Ditto this.

  • Nope, I've never thought of owning one, but I think if you want one and are responsible with it ok.

  • Nope. It's never crossed my mind either.
  • I'm in the "it's never even crossed my mind" camp.  I don't have a problem with them as long as you are a responsible owner and follow the laws.

  • We have several guns in our home. Jason hunts, enjoys target shooting, and also collects antique guns. He also has his concealed carry permit but rarely carries a gun on him.

  • I use to keep a handgun in my glove box when I was a TV reporter. They would send us out to some of the craziest places in the middle of nowhere.

We have several at the house, however since the move, we don't have ammo for any of them.

  • Does a 20 year old sawed off shotgun in non-working condition count? Ya, for some reason Russ decided he wanted it and now it's stored in the basement on the highest shelf where no one can see it. Oh and a paintball gun too lol.

I have never shot it, but Russ has said he would shoot me in the arse for fun cause I wanted to go paintballing with him.

  • Like, seriously not in working condition? 'Cause if there was even the slightest chance of it working order, you need to lock that bad boy up.

We've never had guns either, nor would that have ever crossed our minds. I feel safer knowing that most people don't have their hands on them here.

  • No guns in the house, but I had a slew of them in the house when I was growing up. My stepdad made us all take classes and go to shooting practice to know how they worked. We also helped him make ammo. He used to hunt. Now things are just more for show and to some day pass along. The guns were always locked up in cabinets with hidden keys none of us knew about. I highly recommend doing the same if you have guns in the house. All it takes is one depressed person to not think twice about it.

I do, for the record, keep a baseball bat next to the bed. Even with big dogs, you just never know who would be stupid enough to try it.

  • I don't but Jim has more than I care to think about.  He has at least three hand guns and two shot guns. If we ever get a kid, he will have to get a gun safe for them.

I had never held a gun until Christmas 2009, when he finally talked me in to going to the firing range.  I came to the conclusion that if they were going to be here, I ought to know how to use it.  I actually liked shooting more than I thought I would.

There's no trigger and most of the parts are missing. It's this rusted old piece of junk and honestly, I have no idea why Russ wanted it. Maybe he thinks it's antique??

  • We have a pistol...but no ammunition, so not highly useful.  Ed grew up with guns, and my dad taught me how to use a gun when I was younger, but neither of us have much interest.  I'm not even entirely sure how the pistol got here--I am thinking it came from my FIL for some reason.  Ed bird hunts occasionally with his dad, but he uses a gun at his dad's house.

  • I don't even know how many guns we have in the house.  Mostly for hunting (DH, not me).

I do own a pistol.  Bought it when I first bought the house and lived alone.
