* perfect a meal planning regimen and incorporate freeze ahead meals
* do a few more out-of-town trips
* focus on my pre-baby checklist

Re: 2011 Goals

  • A lot of mine are listed in my 101 on my blog but a few that I am focusing on this year are...

    - New job. Not necessarily with a different company but something that I enjoy more.

    - Complete the scrapbooks I am working on

    - Learn more about my camera's features.  I think my pictures could be much better if it wasn't for operator error.

    - Pay down debt.  We are on track to pay off several of our monthly bills this year if we just stay focused.

    - Spend more time together as a family.  Working opposite schedules is really starting to wear on DH and I.  I miss my husband.

  • 2011 goals:

    1.  Get happy - there are a couple of parts to this one because I really feel like I've been just dealing with stuff for the past couple of years because we were supposed to be moving.  Since DH started a new job in October, we know we'll likely be in Louisville for at least another 2 years.  Not what I wanted but I need to make the best of it so I need:

-- a new job - I'm miserable in my current one and I don't know how I'm going to do it after the baby comes.

-- a new house - when I bought the house it was a 2-3 year plan and I was single.  It's been 6, we've definitely outgrown it and I don't like the neighborhood.  It's time to move on and there's never going to be a perfect time to move so we decided to go for it, hopefully we'll be listing the house in March/April.

-- work on my business - I know I'm going to lose a lot of free time when the baby comes but it's my outlet for creativity and earns us some extra cash.  One constraint though is my limited kitchen space in my current house.  Getting a bigger kitchen would give me more capacity to take on larger jobs and increase my income potential.  I dont think its a job replacement at this point, but I would like it to be in the next 5-ish years.

    2.  Lose the baby weight and get back in shape.  My goal is to be wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes by the time we go to Jamaica at the end of May.  We'll see how it goes.

    3.  Put extra effort into my relationship with DH.  I'm a little scared with the baby coming and moving and job hunting that we'll forget/be too tired/etc to make time for us.  I want to make sure we still have date nights, etc.

  • hawki, I'm guessing this would have to be post finding a new house, but would it be possible for you to SAH and do your side business (plus maybe a part-time job)?

  • I updated my 101 with most of mine, but here are the big ones:

    * Write! Write write write write write, stop, breathe, and write some more

    * Craft! Sew, quilt, scrapbook, etc. Planning on all homemade gifts for at least my girlfriends' birthdays this year.

    * Pay attention. Pay attention to myself, to my friends, to my work, to my husband. I feel like I've been doing a lot of "floating" through life/relationships and I want to make myself more actively involved. I'm really bad about doing things like checking e-mail or cleaning while I'm on the phone. I know it seems like "multi-tasking," but it's really only giving the person on the other end part of my attention, and I don't like that.

If you want to know the full list, check out my blog/new 101 updates ;)

  • - Create a schedule for myself and stick to it. It is ridiculous how much time I waste during the day because I put things off until later.

    - Spend less time online. I'll probably be here just as often, but I need to limit my time spent lurking around on other forums/blogs/sites.

    - Find an outlet for my thoughts. I started a private blog last night and I wrote and wrote and wrote. I think it will help me work through some of my anxiety and stress if I just get it all out.

    - Try one new recipe a week.

    - Go to church regularly. I've been asking myself some very hard faith-related questions lately and I want/need to work on finding answers.

It's a possibility for the future but probably not financially the smartest decision with only one child.  I make too much money to take the income hit since daycare isnt that big of a portion of my take home pay.  This is part of the problem with finding a new job too... my current one pays really well - I just hate it.  I'm most likely going to have to take a pay cut to do something that I like better, but since DH started his new job and got a big salary jump we can afford to do that.

I really want to figure out the job situation prior to buying a house since there could be some movements with our total income number (although our plan is to find something that we can swing on DH's income alone) so that we have more flexibility in the future.

The other piece of this is that if I really want to grow my business to that level, I'm going to have to get licensed.  This requires renting kitchen space or building a separate kitchen.  I think I need to establish things a little more before I'm willing to make that investment and figure out which way I want to go with it (wedding cakes/catering vs. storefront) which I think are the 2 routes to success with it.

  • 2011 Goals

    • eat better/exercise more - So far so good on this one. I haven't had caffeine in 3 days either.
    • learn how to use my DSLR - H got me a Nikon D3000 for Christmas, and I really have to learn how to use it.
    • get more organized - Closets, drawers, kitchen, linen closet, you name it, it is getting organized.
    • scrapbook more - This one goes along with the new camera. And I still have pictures from our honeymoon in Jamaica to do.
I have more, but I don't want to bore you all with everything.

  • -Lose 10 lbs

-Spend more quality time with DH

-Find a more rewarding job (and better pay would be nice too)

-Start to save more for the future

-Organize more. I have been doing this a lot lately, but we still have so much to do!!!

  • 2011 Goals:

    1. Be a better SAHW/M. Now that A is napping & sttn, I feel like I can accomplish more around the house and am not in a constant zombie-like state.

    2. Have more time with DH & focus on our relationship. During the week, we usually see each other when it is time for bed. We have the weekends together but are so focused on running errands or getting stuff done around the house. We used to have date night every week. I'd be happy with once a month now. I miss my husband & the fun times we had.

    3. Blog more. I haven't blogged in awhile and miss it. I also feel my blog layout is uninspiring, which doesn't make me want to blog. Paging mamie ; )

    4. Lose this baby weight. I'm tired of clothes not fitting me and refuse to buy bigger size clothes.

    5. Make a home cooked meal once a week. I was afraid to cook. Then we hosted Christmas and I made an herb rib roast with a mushroom shallot sauce that was delicious! I can cook, I just need more faith in myself.

These are my top 5. I have more but we'd be here all day.
