Did you guys see this? I want to cry...

... I'm so happy that that little boy has such an awesome mom.  What did you guys think?

  • I think this is great! What an awesome mom and dad for being their child!
  • Thank you for sharing that video with us.

Kyle plays with lots of pink and purple things, mostly because he has an older sister. But, Shannon also loves all of the trucks and dinosaurs that were purchased for Kyle. One of her favorite bedtime books is "Truckery Rhymes".

Girls are generally permitted to dress and act more masculine, and parents are more inclined to give their little girl a name traditionally reserved for boys, but society frowns upon the reverse.

It will be a wonderful day if and when the world is ever truly accepting of the differences in each other.

love it!  it reminds of this blog post:  http://nerdyapplebottom.com/2010/11/02/my-son-is-gay/

That was actually the first thing I thought of when I started watching the video, too.

  • OMG, THANK YOU for that link!  That is AWESOME!!!  Peter is totally a boy's-boy - he plays superheroes and is WICKED into Star Wars right now.  But he told me over the weekend that Ariel isn't his girlfriend anymore, that his new girlfriend is Rapunzel, and that he wants a Rapunzel doll, and I found myself whispering to him that Rapunzel is for girl's.  And then he AWESOMELY argued with me, that the movie is for both girls AND boys and why couldn't he have one?  And then I realized that it was ME that was uncomfortable with it, not him, and that I was the one putting my own stupid stereotypes onto him, when all he was trying to do was be innocent and play with a pretty doll.  I suck.  But I feel better after watching that video and reading that link, I at least know that I suck and that whatever he wants is fine and awesome, because no matter what HE is fine and awesome.
  • I think this is so fantastic that I am thinking about how I can incorporate the video into my wellness classes. I teach units on eating disorders/body image/ bullying and this video is awesome. I am also thinking about sending to all the faculty at my school. What we can all learn......amazing!
