Re: How Was Your New Year?
Ours was pretty great. Friends of ours got married on Saturday (New Years Day) and DH was in the wedding and it was out of town for us, so it was a whole weekend event.
Friday, we got to town, checked into the hotel, then went to the rehearsal. Their wedding "coordinator" was so focused in on the tiny tiny details, it was driving me crazy! Luckily, I was just there to watch, so I just stopped listening to her.
After that was the rehearsal dinner which was delicious! They had "food stations"... a pasta bar (delish!), a taco bar, a potato bar, and burgers/hot dogs. The rehearsal dinner turned into a New Years Eve party. They handed out hats and beads and noisemakers and we played games and some people did karaoke. We did the countdown to New Year, and Jan 1st is the groom's birthday too, so we all sang Happy Birthday to him.
I was so tired... DH and I were in bed by 12:30!
Saturday was the wedding, but it didn't start until 4:00. We went with some friends to get lunch somewhere which was really hard to do in a small area on a holiday! We wanted to eat something "local" but we couldn't get any recommendations from locals other than chains.
Then, it turned out that everything was closed anyway, so we settled for Godfathers pizza. Whatever, it was fine. Then, we went to the wedding. DH did a great job with his reading.
The reception was good, typical stuff. Buffet dinner, all the normal dances, etc. For a birthday surprise, the bride got the groom's favorite local burgers into the reception at about 10:30. They were a greasy mess, but they hit the spot!
They hosted a brunch for us Sunday morning, then we got out of there. We watched the Bears game with DH's cousin, then went home. Ugh, I'm so tired now!
NYE was pretty quiet for us this year. We stayed home and just relaxed just the 3 of us. I didnt even stay up till midnight.
However, New Years Day was awesome. DH decide that we were going to spend Sat and Sun in Orlando. We went to SeaWorld with lil man on Sat. It was soo much fun. Jaiden was amazed by all the animals. They even had a Seasme Steet show going on, which was awsome.
Oh and reality hit in than in just under 2 months, our lil man will be 2.
Our NYE was nice and low key. We bought ourselves a new tv to replace the podunk one we had before and got to watch the ball drop on a newer, nicer screen.
The rest of our weekend was not so nice. Immediately after we went to bed on NYE, one of our cats either forgot who the other one was or decided she didn't want to tolerate him anymore. So we got to deal with fighting and/or terrified cats all weekend. Delightful.

Our party turned out fantastic! We had a good number of people show up and I think everyone had a good time. We ate and drank and played games and talked. It was low key but still a lot of fun. People stayed until like 2am so NY day DH and I literally did not get off the couch. We layed around and watched tv and ate party leftovers...it was perfect. Then Sunday we mustered up enough strength to clean the kitchen and take down the Christmas decorations. Overall it was a really nice weekend.
**Thanks again to everyone who gave me advice on the food. It turned out to be perfect. We had a little bit of leftovers of some things, but not to the point where I wished I had made less.
This always happens to me too!
Mine was very....interesting...
My mom is completely menopausal and I started making spaghetti and she apparently didnt like it. She told me she hated me, hated her life, packed her bags, and left! It was really strange. The rest of the family stayed up and watched the ball and tried to forget about what had happened. She didnt come back until the next day, when she cussed me out, then started crying and saying sorry.
Needless to say, it was a very interesting new years eve!!
My husband and I have started our apartment search since then lol

Wow...that is interesting! I hope things are going better now!
New Year's Eve was great. We made and ate/drank pizzas and drinks from about 8:30-11:00, played Taboo until it was time to yell HAPPY NEW YEAR! Said a few silly toasts and predictions and went back to game playing until everyone was sober and ready to go home. Everyone left around 2 so we put food away and left the rest of the mess for the morning (which became the afternoon and Sunday).
Saturday night I went to a bachelorette party for one of my old roommates... it was great to spend time with her before her wedding this weekend.
Yesterday was church then DH and I headed to Monterey to stay in a hotel we like (it was his Christmas present -- I found a great deal!). It was rainy on the way up but stopped enough for us to go for a long walk before it got dark and today it was absolutely beautiful until about noon when we started heading home. It was a great last day of vacation.
