Hey everyone, I was hoping someone might have some words of wisdom for me. My son has been going to preschool since september and cried for the first few weeks but then was fine. In the beginning of November there was a teacher change and then at the middle of December, for some reason he started crying again when we drop him off. I went to pick him up today and she said he cried this morning and then was fine but started crying again at lunch and didn't stop the rest of the day. If you ask him why he's crying, he says because he misses mommy. I know there's a few wild children in his class and he is very timid and shy but they've been going since the beginning so I don't think it's that. The teacher thinks that I should send him 5 days a week so that there's a routine, right now he's going M W F.

Re: Preschool dilemna
this sounds more reasonable to me then 5 days a week. he is only 3 1/2....is it full day or 1/2?
i'm wondering if he is at my old school, that teacher situation sounds similiar.
i'm typing this while holding dd so i'm sorry if it doesn't make sense!
here are some things you could try.
-have the teacher create a picture schedule of the daily events (circle time, snack, art, etc.). have a copy at sschool and at home. in the car or before you get there you can talk about his day. at school the teacher can help him navigate his day. this could help with any anxiety and also help him to know when mommy is coming.
-let him take a picture of you to school. he could keep it in his cubby or something so that when he is missing you he can see you.
-send a note for him that he can keep in his pocket and "read" it whenever he needs to.
i would try things like this before sending him more days. let me know if you need more ideas
