New Year's Resolutions- Poll

Did you make any resolutions this year?

DH & I made a joint one that we would reduce our debt by 20%. It is very ambitious, but it needs to be our #1 focus right now.

Another one I had was that I plan to wear something other than jeans every single day.

Re: New Year's Resolutions- Poll

  • I always make a big TO DO list, not resolutions per se. It's long this year! It's in my last blog post in the T&A blog.
  • I haven't made a New Year's resolution since high school. I've always felt that they were just begging to be broken.

However, this year I do have a goal. Although it began forming before NYE, and I'm trying to look at it as more of a "new life resolution".

My goal for myself is to start putting more energy into finding and loving myself more, doing things that bring me joy, looking towards the future with more positivity, and reconnecting with people and things in my life that I had disconnected from. I've had too many outside things bringing me down over the last few years, and it's time for me to exert control over the things I can control in my life. I can't help it if the people around me do stupid, hurtful, destructive things. But I can control how I react to it and how much of myself I give up and put aside as a result of life's difficulties.

  • I try not to make any "resolutions" because lets face it, for me they would be the same damn things every single year.  Get healthy, save money/reduce debt, try to be happier etc.

This year I am going to try setting very specific and reasonable goals.  Once I reach each goal (and I will Wink) then the plan is to set the next mini goal.  That way I can keep going the entire year and dont crap out at the end of January.

My first goal is to drop 20 lbs by my sisters wedding in March.  I also want to have my credit card paid off by the end of the March.

  • I don't normally make resolutions I just try and get things done I want to.  Although this year Dh and I decided we are actually going to get some house projects going.  We had put things on hold because our house is under water and Dh's job was not stable at one point.  So now we have some big projects for the kitchen and living room that I am really excited about.  Sometimes I feel like we rent out house from someone because we never do what we want to.  So this is progress.

  • I've decided this year to make no resolutions or to do lists.  I am just going to try and enjoy every moment in this year.  So what if we're not rolling in dough in a few months, as long as our bills are paid that's all that matters.  Hopefully we'll get pregnant but if that doesn't happen then I'll try my best to enjoy all the "practice" we'll be having and the ability to drink and have fun and sleep in.  But hopefully I'll be able to also experience new things this year...like a nice big pregnant belly, or traveling some place new, or maybe just going to some place I've already been and doing something there I've never done before.

I just want to enjoy this year and look back and not have any regrets...

  • I always make goals around this time of year. Its a great time to reflect.

A couple of my goals are:

    1) Run sub 2 hour half marathon.

    2) Reduce my impact on the environment by eliminating junk mail, paper bills, and starting to compost.

I've got more, but thats what I'll share :)

  • My new year's resolutions:

To figure out and maintain a good house cleaning schedule, and one that reduces clutter and maximizes a stressfree zone. DH is really into simple, and I hate the piles.

To continue to shop primarily at 2nd hand stores, Craigslist, and Freecycle. And to try to only buy local organic produce--which means in season as much as possible. DH has gotten on board big time with this, and that is a huge help!

To continue working out in a way safe for the baby, and to really up it to every day a week.

To watch where my money goes. I would say spend less, but that isn't really possible right now (damn mortgage) but just really watch and see where I end up spending it, and where I could, if I can, cut back.

To do even bigger and better with my garden and hopeful urban farm :-D
