How was your NYE?

Did anyone do anything exciting?

DH & I had an almost perfect night.  We've both been fighting colds so we decided to stay in.  I made us chicken enchiladas, guacamole and rice and DH opened up our Margaritaville Marg. machine (the one wedding gift he was super pumped to recieve) and we had our own little Mexican fiesta.

However, I say almost perfect b/c we ended up watching Sherlock Holmes and at 11:40 I started to get sleepy so I got up and did a few dishes/clean up some.  I told DH we should switch to TV to watch the countdown but he wanted to watch the scene in the movie...and then we completely forgot to switch and then all of a sudden DH says, "oh happy 2011, it's 12:02". So no countdown for us this year!

Re: How was your NYE?

  • It was lovely! We went to my sister and BIL's house for a little bit, munched on things and played some games.

Went to Ryan's friend's house and he got wasted. :) Lucky me! I was DD since I had to work at 5AM, and he insisted we stay later (that what I wanted). So I didn't get to really go to sleep until almost 2, while taking a trip to the bathroom he fell on top of me and fell in the hallway. He was amused, I wasn't.

Needless to say, Ryan doesn't drink that much that often. And probably won't for a long time.

And for anyone out there, stay away from Four Lokos. That stuff is horrible for you!

Oh, no! We went to a party at my friend's house. We didn't get to watch the ball drop since her cable went out, but we did do the countdown with the radio station we were listening to ;o) It was just a small party, like 8 people, but I had a really good time. We were playing drinking games we used to play years back, like circle of death, only a little more responsibly than when we were 23 lol

LOL, I've never had it and DH has once.  We have looked around to try it, but IL has now banned it I believe (and if not yet, it's in the works b/c it's already pulled from shelves). Eek! I hope you had plenty of coffee/pop for work the next morning!

  • Lame lol... we stayed home and I organized and stuff lol. I had to fight to stay awake until midnight and then pass out.

Seeing *** Clark makes me sad :O( He's come a long way, don't get me wrong, but from what he was when I was a kid...

  • Ours was pretty quiet but still nice. We went out to dinner and watched fireworks in Baltimore then headed home.

Anabeth-I remember last year wanting to cry for poor **** Clark because he messed up the number order when he was doing the countdown :-(  Poor guy!

  • My NYE was interesting and fun, but DH was sick and so I ended up going to my sister's party alone. (Before I get jumped on for leaving him home sick, I should mention we had broken our plans for christmas with my sister already and I needed to get my niece and nephew's christmas presents to them.) I had a very fun time staying up with my sister's 5 and 3 year old until midnight. We didn't do a countdown because we all were hanging out by a bonfire roasting marshmellows and my phone doesn't count down seconds, but we did do a champagne toast. I called DH at midnight and he was already asleep and he was railing about those da** firecrackers waking him up.

  • I went to a party at my cousin's house and tested out the new bar they built in the basement. DH was working untul midnight, but got out a little early and rushed over to surprise me so we could have our New Years kiss. He got there just as the ball dropped. I know.. so cute is sickening Stick out tongue

At least you made it to 12:02 - we were sound asleep by 11 pm.  I made us a nice dinner, we had some (read: lots of) wine, and a bottle of prosecco.   By 10 pm, I was dozing on the couch, by 10:30, we could barely keep our eyes open. So we said eff it and went to bed.

(In our defense, we moved last week, and Friday was spent unpacking/cleaning/organizing/etc.  So we at least had a valid excuse.)

  • First off, the Nest is blocking out the word D-i-c-k, as in D-i-c-k Clark..weird!

We both worked that night and got home around 11:30. I made the pizza dip and nutella/marshmallow pockets while DH drank almost an entire bottle of champagne by himself (which was ammusing).

We switched back and forth from a few channels, and ended up watching D. Clark, as we did in years past (which is very sad since his stroke, but also makes me feel good that it's important to him to still do it!)

We wanted to start a tradition this year, so I came up with kissing what year it was (2011=11 kisses).
Wasn't as romantic as I thought it would be, and I kept laughing.

    It'll be a b*tch in 2050!

  • We were planning an intimate board game/wii night for us and 2 other couples...well that turned into 16 people at our house LOL...after hosting christmas eve..i started to stress...but it all turned out fine and was much more casual!!

I think everyone had a great time!! I know we did and it was great to be surrounded by good friends!!  Was a great way to bring in the new year.

Seems like everyone else had a great new years too!!

I stared at the *** for a while before I could figure out what was going on.  I was like who's poor Clark?? Did I miss a post on someone?  I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes.

I worked until about 11:15, and H played MTG at a local shop.   We went to Uno's for a late dinner and drinks with some of our favourite kids from work.  I was told by my crush (Ross knows all about him, it makes him laugh) of the last three-ish years that if he finds a woman half as awesome as I am, he'll be happy.  Aww, snuggle.  We watched the ball drop on tv, and closed the place down.  Ross and I came home and.. ahem... rang in the new year.

  • We hosted our first family party and went to our town's race car drop...yeah go ahead and judge my hill billy racing town ;)  It was a very nice evening and we're hoping to make this one of our holiday traditions

  • We hosted a party for about 10 friends but it was actually kind of lame lol.  We had a party last year too and it was a blast, but I think our group of friends has really grown up a lot in the past year (which is a good thing, don't get me wrong), so no one was really into drinking themselves stupid this year so it was kind of odd.  I found myself cleaning up the kitchen and doing dishes at 3:30am, woohoo, wild crazy party!
