Sorry, I've been MIA from the board, but thought I'd vent/catch up on how things have been....
I ended up pretty much taking off the last two weeks from work. I had to take off the monday and tues before xmas to deal with our own loss, then I tried to come in on wed, but it was too much. I ended up working from home wed and thurs and monday the following wk, then my VPN went missing... walked off, can't find it. If my dogs weren't dumping normally I'd swear one of them ate it.... I'm doing a lot better now, still have moments... like on my bday when I would have officially entered my 2nd tri, but otherwise we are doing ok.
On Tuesday... we had a bird in our house. Like before, it flew into the dryer vent on the 3rd fl exterior, was hanging out in the vents until it fell behind the dryer. It broke free by poking a hole in the coil that attaches the dryer to the vent in the wall and trying to get out our window in the stairway.... long story short.... we finally got it out... but only after I screamed bloody murder when it flew directly at me and straight into the storm door... ughhh so gross. I know I have a fear of birds.
On Wednesday, P's cousin's husband went into the hospital. Their whole family (H, W, and DD) had been sick over Xmas. P's cousin (M) had been posting their "quarentined xmas" updates on fb. E (her H) ended up in the hospital with pnemonia (sp sorry) and bacteria in his lungs... within 24 hrs he passed away. He was 42 and leaves behind a 36 wife and 11 daughter. My heart absolutely BREAKS for them. He had just gotten back from France earlier in the month where he finally got to defend his thesis and got his PhD. (He's from belgium). It looks like he brought back H1N1 and thats what started this whole thing. M had been so great when news spread about our loss. She reached out to me because she has suffered through many herself. Now she has this. It really puts things in perspective.
It appears (knock on wood) that P and I have avoided the stomach flu that was going around to all 3 of my step-nieces up at my dads at new years. Thank goodness because we leave later this week for the Bahamas. I really can't wait to go.... eff off 2010.
Re: Don't let the door hit you in the ass, 2010.... (long)
Oh God. I got so choked up reading this. That is so sad. Their family is in my T&P. I hope you can enjoy your trip to the Bahamas. Erinn, I hope 2011 brings lots of joy to you.
Also, just out of curiousity, where does your cruise leave from?
We aren't cruising. We actually got an amazing "year end" deal at Sandals in Nassau. So we'll be eating, drinking, and sunning ourselves silly.
ETA: We are flying direct. Bahamas was one of the only places we could fly without a connection and since we have to board the dogs and are only going for 4 nights we wanted to have as little of 'travel time' possible....
