New Year and new to the area.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I just moved to NC from MI a week before Thanksgiving. I'm living in Rocky Mount and work in Wilson. This is the first time I've ever lived more than a few minutes from where I grew up and as much as I'm loving NC I really wish I could find a way to meet people. I miss having girlfriends to hang out with. Does anyoen have any tips on how to make friends when your somewhere you know no one?

When I moved to Greensboro I also discovered meetup.com and joined a few groups. You can search for clubs that have been formed that match your interests -- for ex. I joined a ladies' book club, and my husband and I joined a wine tasting group. We ended up taking over as organizers for the wine club for 6 months and met a ton of people that way! We turned the organizing over to another couple for the new year, but still attend meetings. This sounds like a commercial for meetup now, but just wanted to encourage you to check it out like the poster above did!
