The MM board has been talking a lot about couponing lately, so I decided to give it a try today. After scouring the internet last night and the Sunday ads this morning, I was able to take my grocery bill from $128 to $102 at Target. I was pretty happy with the results since I only had 2 days to collect coupons.
Anyone else into couponing? It's quite addicting. A couple good sites to check out if you're interested: www.totallytarget.com and www.thekrazycouponlady.com
Re: Anyone into couponing?
I am a coupon freak; I only get the sunday paper so I can get grocery coupons, and my grandmother and mom mail me ones for stuff we buy, but have coupons that are hard to find...DH does all the internet coupon-ing since he normally ends up doing the shopping while I'm at classes Monday nights, but it's beck to being my job for a bit. We also started doing our "simple" grocery shopping at Wal-Mart since it's cheaper (we still go to Giant for produce and harder to find spices/ingredients).
Thanks for a new sites, I am sure DH will find them very useful. He uses the coupon generator on http://www.mypoints.com/emp/u/index.vm; if you haven't heard of it, it's an easy way to earn gift cards. you sign up, they send you 3-4 emails a day, you clikc on the links and earn 5 points. We save ours up for gift cards for dinners on our vaction, so we don't have to pay as much. It's pretty cool if you have the 5 minutes a day to keep up with it.
I do, but nothing too over the top. We get the Sunday paper, so usually just what is in there. I'm really good about buying in bulk when things are on sale on non-perishable things (mac and cheese, canned veggies, pasta, etc.)
One week though, DH and I saved like 50 bucks. It was kickasss.
We coupon, but not obsessively. We usually save about 10 bucks a trip with coupons, but today we saved 20! I refuse to waste my time going from store to store trying to save an extra few cents though. It's not worth my time. 10 bucks 2 or 3 times a month is great, that ends up being a couple hundred a year!
We just look at the Sunday paper, but some stores also have electronic coupons you can add to your shopper's card that they then take off automatically when you buy the item. This is a good way to double up on coupons. DH does this for Kroger every so often because he gets their ads, etc in emails and that's where we do pretty much all our shopping.
my read shelf:
I want to start couponing. Maybe we will start buying the Sunday paper after church to go through the coupons. I have found some coupon websites but they all require a "coupon printing" program which I can't put on my work computer - and then when I get home I never remember to look all the coupons up again.
I would like to do a shopping trip at Target (minus produce/meats) just to compare pricing.
we do some coupons - mostly stop&shop and BJs wholesale club where we shop the most. Or we'll go to pricechopper/big Y when they have big sales on stuff (buy 1 get 2 free are my favorites!)
other than that, ive started to use the employee club at my work, which gives me lots of coupons and sales at online stores which is awesome
