Hi ladies,
After all of the love and support you've shown me, I just wanted to say thank you so much and give you an update. Last night was Ivan's wake, and about 350 people came to show their respects. It was tough, but we made it through. I didn't start crying until I saw my mom, who started bawling before she even made it to the casket. Ivan loved my mom, and I know my parents will miss him dearly.
The funeral service was this morning at 11:00. I was a pallbearer, and it was great honor. I thought I'd be ok, but I cried most of the way through, as did Wade's siblings. Wade didn't shed a single tear, and has been very strong throughout the whole ordeal. He told me that he had accepted that his father would die earlier this year and had done his grieving. Anyways, it was a beautiful service, and it was great to see how many people turned out to say their goodbyes. My FIL was a great man, and it showed.
It's been a very busy, stressful week, but now we can all begin to heal. Wade and I leave for Mexico for my brother's wedding on Thursday and will be busy the next two days getting the house and animals ready for us to go, so I won't be around much. I just wanted to say thank you again to all of you lovely ladies. You are such a wonderful support system, and I don't know what I'd do without you.
Re: FIL's funeral was today
I'm glad to hear that your FIL was surrounded by family and friends as his life was celebrated. I also hope that you and Wade are able to relax and unwind a little bit on your trip -- congrats to your brother!
You and Wade will still be in my prayers. I am glad so many people came to show their love for him.
I hope you and Wade can enjoy yourself on your trip to Mexico.
I was so sorry to see your original post but my phone wouldn't let me post.
I am so glad that you were able to have a proper good bye and see that so many people loved and admired your FIL. Losing a parent is always very difficult, you and Wade are in my thoughts.
Enjoy yourselves in Mexico and maybe take a moment just the two of you to watch the sunrise.
Wow, he was truly loved. How wonderful that so many people came to celebrate his life and to support your family. I'll still be thinking of you and I hope that each day continues to be a little bit easier.
Enjoy your trip to Mexico, it will be good for the soul! Congrats to your brother!
