Has anyone done Weight Watchers?
Hello ladies,
I don't post on here much because it always seems so slow over here. I noticed that lately it's getting a bit more lively so I may have to come back more often
Since being laid off, I probably gained 30 lbs and I just want to lose at least that and a lot of people had said to try WW. I don't know anybody personally that has done WW so I thought I would see if anyone here has ever done it or tried or or know of anyone that has done so?!
Re: Has anyone done Weight Watchers?
Hey Tara!
I haven't personally done Weight Wwatchers, but a friend of mine has. She had great success with it. She lost a decent amount of weight and has kept it off. We also sponsor it here at work, and quite a few people have done it. I like the fact that you don't have to buy their "food".
Good luck
Off topic, but I'm originally from Columbia - you sorta look familiar. I graduated from Columbia in 2000.
I did WW about a year and half ago before the wedding and lost 50 lbs. I've since rejoined about 2 months ago and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new points+ system. I highly recommend it. Before I was only allowed 22 pts a day and found it VERY difficult to stay within my daily range. But now I'm allowed 29 per day & 49 extra weekly, but foods 'cost' a little more but the program, in my opinion, is prefected. It's based on science. You don't calcualte pts by calories anymore. It's based on carbs, fiber, protein & fat. And the best part of the new plan is all fresh fruits & veggies are FREE!
I believe they have free registration right now too, but I have the monthly pass, so registration is always free when you select that option.
I also graduated from Columbia but in 1996... I believe you may have graduated with maybe my one of my cousins.. Becky Nobile, Jon Brown? Either sound familiar. I still live here and hope to move really soon. We have been looking at homes in York Country... actually going to look at one this week out towards Dallastown.
Thank you ladies for your help and information. I think I will just join since the registration is free right now. I think it's worth a shot!!
If you havent joined yet then, Join at a actual WW Branch there is one in York next to Gabriel Brothers, I got the montly pass there and bought all of my supplies there and attend the Lancaster meeting, Which is a franchise, All of there supplies are more expensive for some reason. I ussually attend the Tuesday 10am meeting bc its children friendly, or the Wednesday night at Gabriel brothers shopping center.
I have been doing much better since they changed to pointsplus! Good luck!
Thank you for the advise! I appreciate it!!
Ugh-this post reminds me I need to get back on the WW wagon. Fall/holidays were super stressful for me with work/travel/personall stuff so all healthy eating and working out went out the window. I think I may join again.
I've done WW in the past and always had success with it. I agree with pps that it really does teach you healthy eating habbits and its nice that you don't have to buy any special groceries. Overall I think its a great program.
I need to get back on the wagon too! Darn holidays! I went to WW in 2009 and enjoyed it, tried the meetings in person and online. I liked the meetings except it seemed there was this group of people that all new each other that took over the meeting. I found My Fitness Pal online and it's free, I've like it so far. It tracks your food and exercise (kind of like SparkPeople).
Good luck with whatever you decide!
i have not personally done WW but my mother did. she was very successful. in September 2008 the dress she wore to my cousin's wedding was a size 18. in September 2009 the dress she wore to my wedding was a size 6!
she is on maintenance now (and sort of re-learning the new points) but she said that the best thing about WW is that it tought her to eat less. she pays more attention to when she feels full and making a decision on whether she's eating because she is hungry or just because the food is in front of her. she also makes better choices such as for 2 points i can have this but if i want that its 5 points. and she also likes that it doesnt totally cut anything out of your diet like other diet plans.
