is it bad...

that I'm feeling super clucky now?

H and I are planning on starting a family in the next couple of years, but he wants to try to start a new job first - one with a bit more room for promotion and growth.

He's a travel agent right now, but used to work in finance before the GFC and would like to get back into that sector.

He turns 29 this month and I'm 28 in April.  I've told H how I feel and he understands, but he wants to wait.

How about you all?  Do you have plans to TTC soon?

Where we met - Mount Isa
a small mining town in the Australian Outback. Neither of us are from there but we both moved there in the second last year of highschool. He was moved next to me in maths class to stop him talking. It didn't work.

Re: is it bad...

  • I just had a wave of baby fever, but it has gone away. I think I started thinking about how old I'm going to be when we have kids (if we have more than 1) and that I want them to be close with their cousins and who knows what else was going through my brain haha.  H and I have a lot we still want to do before having little ones and we just bought a house that we really want to enjoy together, so it's best for us to wait.

I don't think it's bad, I think it's totally normal!  I also think it's a completely different feeling for us ladies.  Keep us posted :)

  • I have no plans at this point. I still have 2 years left of school and I have to get a job after that. Although there was a moment on the HM that I thought I might be and, although it would throw a wrench in my plans, I wasn't upset :)

Maybe you guys should not actively try right now but welcome any surprises that might come along, lol.

  • I definitely see children in our future. Most of our friends are already at that stage since they are a tad older than us. I'm 29 and he is 32, so we will probably start trying in a year or so. I just hope that we will live where we want to live with some real estate luck. This also means a possible new job, etc.. so lots to think about. I will however take advantage of every moment before kids that is just the two of us. Once you have an infant, the dynamic definitely changes.  I see it with all of our friends.

     In due time...

  • Haha, H and I were just talking about this on the way home. We definitely want to try for kids, but there's stuff we want to do beforehand. We're locationally where we want to be, but we'd like to buy a house first, and do a couple of trips (including a big trip to Europe). We also both want to finish school first. But we have time. I'm 23 and he's 24, so it's not like we're going to be old farts if we wait 5 or 6 years to start trying.

  • If we were where we wanted to be financially we probably would be trying already.  We're waiting about 5-6 months before actively trying.  We want to go on a few trips also and have more in savings.

  • Since the baby fever is coming and going for me too another newly wed friend shared this with me... it's 11 lessons to learn before having children, it had me rolling on the floor!
