Help... Best steam vacuum & best canister vacuum (with motor brush)?
Ladies -
I have an almost 1 year old (can't tell by the OLD pic in my siggie), 2 dogs and 2 cats and need to make cleaning easier. Right now I HATE my clunky upright vac, and I have mostly hardwood floors or tile (except for two bedrooms).
What is the best steam vacuum & best LIGHTWEIGHT canister vac??? Need to purchase these soon... looking for ideas!

I have teo cats and a dog. I had an old dirt devil and when I got married 4 years ago i used gift cards to purchase the Bissell Lift Off Pet Hair vacuum. The cool thing is that it is an upright but then the canister lifts out for stairs and your car and other stuff. We have small to medium sized living and dining room area. I had just vacuumed two days prior and when we got home with the new vac we tried it.
OH MY GOODNESS! We had to empty the cannister 5 times because it was full of cat har. We were so surprised because we had just vacuumed and you couldn't see cat har but it filled that canister up 5 times or more. It also has a little attatchment for the hose that is a spinning fabric brush. The spinning action works much better than just a stationary brush.
