I need some recs...

I am thinking about either an overnight getaway or a weekend getaway for over Valentines Day weekend.  My funds are a little tight right now.  So something reasonably priced would be awesome.

I was thinking about a casino....but I am not really knowledgeable on the casinos.

Any ideas?

Baltimore (GRR offers cheap direct flights now!)

If funds are tight I wouldn't do a casino...since the whole point of them (IMO) is to throw away money... Confused

  • The casino in New Buffalo looks nice.  I've also heard that the new casino in Battle Creek is nice.  I haven't been to either of them though.

Of you could go to Detroit.  If you're interested in the Henry Ford Museum and/or Rouge factory tour, you can get a good package deal at a lot of the local hotels.  The packages are all listed on the Henry Ford web site.  And of course there are casinos in Detroit as well.

Or maybe Chicago?  I've been seeing a lot of winter rate specials for Chicago hotels.

Or you could go up to the TC/Petoskey area, especially if you're interested in winter activities.

If you're looking at going further, check out prices for Allegiant and Air Tran flights.  They quite often offer direct flights to Florida for reasonable prices.

  • I bet you could get a jacuzzi room at the Best Western in Traverse City for a really great rate right now.  Wine tasting up there is free at most wineries.  Chicago or Toronto would be fun, too, and I think you could take Amtrak to either place.
