.... WTF??
I was loving the whole episode.... loving they finally found the real 5th doppleganger. Loved the hidden "easter egg" countdown..... but, wtf? it was a count down to his dad dying??
The whole ep I was wondering what they were counting to... was it just to throw us off so we'd be that caught off guard with the news?? I cried. Not cool HIMYM, not cool.

Maybe it's the LOST watcher in me, but I'm thinking the countdown was to keep us looking for something else. That way when Marshall got the news we were just as shocked as he was.... (and also to assume that it was a countdown to Lily finding out she's preg)... I think, it was to throw us off so we'd be hit by the teary eyed bus....
jerks.
I do have to say, I love that the show incorporates 'real life' crap amongst all the fun....

This is exactly what I was thinking, but I wasn't able to explain it this well. I thought the countdown was going to be to Lily announcing she was pregnant.
