I've been thinking about this as I've been in a funk as the high from 2010 stuff has worn off and now I'm looking ahead to 2011.....
2010 was awesome, graduated with my masters in Prek-12 School Guidance Counseling, Married the love of my life and finally moved back in with him (long story I moved home to do my internship at my High School)
So I wanted to know.....as great as 2010 may or may not have been.....what are you all looking for in 2011?
My List:
2011 you need to bring:
*motivation to drop the Lbs (and maybe start to run?)
*A
guidance job PLEASE
*unpack this place!!!!!!
*settle into a
routine
*a place where we can get on the baby track? if not thats ok
to but to get on the road for it would be nice
*learn to knit (i feel
like i did this last year......i have supplies, a beautiful how to book
from my husband and Elly to back that up
)
*Read More....now that school is over I want to pick up more books and FINISH THEM
So let me know....what are your wishes?

Re: What are you looking for in 2011?
I'm not much of a resolution maker, but I have a few goals- one being is to start exercising again now that I'm 6 weeks postpartum. I have my check up next week and should be cleared!
I want to put more effort into my familial relationships, esp with the ILs. I realize how lucky DS is to have all these people love him so much so I want to be sure that those relationships are nurtured for him.
Start fostering (dogs) in the spring again.
Work toward a promotion for 2012 (since maternity leave is all of Q1, this year is out, likely, but I can work toward one for next year).
Mostly just slow down and enjoy each day. My life is flying by too fast and it's getting worse since I have a baby. I need to just slow down and enjoy prioritizing (Hold DS, love DH, walk the dog, laundry and cleaning can wait!)
I don't usually make resolutions either, so I like how you phrased it, "wishes" for 2011. I'm trying to focus on only a couple of things so I don't get overwhelmed.
First and foremost, I need to get our financial house in order--get a handle on where our money is, rebalance our portfolio, hire a financial advisor.
I also need to make sure my parents financials are together too as my mom is retiring this year, dad is already retired, and I'll have to help them manage the process of drawing from their nest egg and making sure it lasts. I have to say, though I'm really, really, really proud of how well they've saved for retirement on really modest incomes.
The only other things I want to do this year are craft-related: get better at knitting and learn how to sew.
This year I hope to get our savings back in line, get healthy, settle into our house, have a couple successful vacations, and research putting a business plan together.
I like the idea of sort of setting goals/ having wishes too! Happy new Year girls!
1. renovating our kitchen, finally
2. TTC (our plan is to start sometime in the year, not sure when yet)
3. I'm toying with the idea of trying to open an etsy shop to sell baby blankets (receiving-type blankets as well as some more elaborate). first I need to decide if it's cost effective and if it's worth it considering I'm sure the market for them is huge on etsy.
Im glad you girls liked the idea....
I dont like calling them resolutions......wishes or to do lists work better psychologically for some people
Have a good night girls
Happy New Year
Getting fit for IVF!
I love your resolutions! I also need motivation to lose weight, this year has been a complete disruption to my routine and I've put on pounds because of it. But no more excuses, it's time for me to get serious! Happy 2011
We have a few wishes for 2011,
Most importantly, we would like to get this house in order. We bought it in April and it needed some work which we are still doing little by little. Nothing major, just modeling that needed to be replaced, broken tiles, the yard is a mess, etc... so that's big on our list.
Like most, I need to get my butt to the gym! Asap!
I would also like to starting really looking for teaching jobs in public schools...I have my degree in PK-2nd grade and would love to have my own classroom.
Teaching preschool is wonderful, but no benefits really. Someday!
