Drool rash

Has anyone's kid had drool rash before? It is in a circle around his mouth where his soother sits. He has had it for about a month now and I can not get it to go away. Any products you would recommend? He looks like he has a moustache/goatee of beestings.

Re: Drool rash

  • have you tried putting vaseline around his mouth before letting him have the soother?  Create a drool barrier?

  • I put cream on it after his bath but not vaseline. I can give that a try. Would it clear up the current rash too?
  • Check out the Blistex post below -- similar concept!  I've seen them use Vaseline and Aquaphor on kids at daycare.
  • I put his butt cream on it this morning after reading that post!
  • Ethan has gotten that from too much wiping when he's had a cold. We used aquaphor and eucerin and it cleared up almost over night.

I can't use vaseline on my face because I feel like I'm sniffing gas all day, so I'm hesitant to use it on him. The aquaphor would probably work the same as vaseline.

  • Yeah, I would go with Aquaphor.  That stuff is a miracle cure.  I put it on Andy when he gets, what I assume are pimples.  I put it on after his bath at night, and it is gone in the morning.  Andy also gets flakey lips from sucking his thumb.  Aquaphor clears it right up.

  • I wonder if you can even buy it here.
  • Is it yeast? You say it is a pimply rash, which means it could be yeast right?
  • It could be. It is red and bumpy.
  • If it is yeast, aquaphor is not going to get rid of it. You can use the aquaphor as a preventative once it is cleared up though.

I got vusion from my doctor for yeast and it was really good and doesn't hurt them if they get it in their mouth.
