I'm smearing medicated blistex over 1/4 of my face

Someone should make a chapped-face-from-nose-blowing moisturizer because putting lip balm on my nose makes me feel gross.

Re: I'm smearing medicated blistex over 1/4 of my face

  • I have no qualms doing that because it's the only thing that brings relief.  You all should probably know this if you ever borrow my chapstick.

  • Since this isn't really going to be a 3-pager about Blistex, we can talk about the computer I'm going to buy in a few days.  I'm still stressing out over PC (cheaper and I have programs that are only compatible with Windows) or Mac (more stable/less susceptible to adware & viruses and same as my work computer, so I can probably transfer stuff from one to the other with less trouble).  Someone help.

The clinique yellow lotion was a godsend after my cold.  I slathered that shiit on like 5 times a day.

  • I think John Hodgman is way cooler than Justin Long, so you should get a PC.

I'm sure Macs are lovely, but I think they're just so spendy for something that is imcompatible (for the most part) with everything I do.  Would you be able to work from home if you got a Mac?  Would that then cause you do start taking a lot of work home with you and therefore cutting into your leisure time?  These are the important questions.

  • It never occurred to me to put medicated lip junk on a sore nose. I feel dumb now.

  • You have no Aquaphor?  I can send you a ton.  M had to use her FSA and she had tons leftover!
  • Macs aren't incompatible anymore!

They used to make a nose-specific chapstick but it was just chapstick so I say chapstick your face with no regard for its intended usage.

Fenton is also running low on pain killers and wine.  And gift cards.  Please send her some of that stuff too.

  • I went PC. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much on the bare bones Mac. I'm happy with my Vaio so far.

well, my next surgery isn't until 1/19 but I'll see what I can get in advance.

  • Buy boogie wipes. I mean, they are for kids, but seriously they are so soft and non scrapey.
  • I use Aquaphor or whatever other diaper rash ointment we have around.
  • Does Blistex have menthol in it?  I read that can dry out your skin faster.  I go menthol free now and I've never looked back.

I say Mac! Mac! Mac!   We are Apple loyal for whatever reason.  Sometimes I just wish we weren't so I could get a cheaper computer.  Apple loyalty is a weird beast.

  • Carmex is the best for sore noses. Put it on at night and it burns like a biitch but your nose is better in the morning. My H has a Mac and has never had any compatibility issues but I don't think it's worth the money. I think you are paying extra purely for the Apple icon.

  • OK, I'm doing a PC.  You've talked me into it.

I have no idea what aquaphor is. It sounds like butt cream for babies.  Yes?

As offers from OOT go, I feel like I'm getting the short end of the stick with the butt cream.  I mean, even 90210 VHS tapes top that!

Nope. It's just a really intense moisturizing lotion that's more grease than lotion. It works better than anything else though.

  • Aquaphor is made by Eucerin.  I actually bought some last weekend for extremely chapped and dry hands and it worked wnoderfully.  It's the consistency of vaseline.

  • Medicated blistex is the best thing I've ever found to smear all over a sore nose.  It feels so much better in the morning.

    And PC, because I'm cheap.

Very greasy.  And it stains.  My kid gets an aquaphor bath every night and morning and my clothes and her clothes are all ruined.

  • I adore aquaphor.  It works wonders.

We have a macbook pro that I love.  I'm thinking about getting an imac depending upon my bonus.  After having several pcs brought down by viruses, I think I'm now on the mac train.

I do have some adware on my current PC, but my computers don't go to sh!t as quickly as my family's computers seem to (my sister needed me to reinstall Windows after six months).  Probably because I use Firefox with ad blocking plugins and don't constantly send and receive email forwards from unknown origins.  I did have to reinstall my Windows, too, once (at least it was after like three years) and it wiped out everything on my computer.  Other than a few songs and some pictures, I recovered it OK, and now I have an external hard drive for backup.

The more I think about it, the more I think this laptop will just be used for interwebz, email, and document writing while sitting on the couch.  I'll probably still leave my desktop hooked up for media storage.  PC would make more sense for that purpose.

I'm 100% mac all the way, but if that really is all you need I agree the price difference isn't worth it.

We have an imac, a macbook, and an ipad. I'm borderline obsessed.

Have you considered a netbook?  I have a laptop and a netbook, and use the netbook for the purposes you intend to use a laptop for.  It doesn't have a CD-ROM drive, but is very light and perfect for lounging around with.

Eh, if I'm spending some money, I still want the option to run some programs I need for work like photoshop, filezilla, etc.
